AI4NGO
AI4NGO is a pioneering initiative born out of a vision to democratise the power of artificial intelligence for the nonprofit sector.
We want to understand how AI might shape the future - its opportunities and risks.

Have a presentation you’re working on? Bring it to our next SMART Session.
In just one hour, we’ll look at practical ways to make your slides clearer, shape your message and make the presentation more useful for the people you’re trying to reach. You’ll have a chance to apply what you learn to your own work during the session, so you can leave with something you’ve already improved.
The session is designed for nonprofit professionals. Whether you’re preparing a project update, a funding pitch or a presentation for your team, bring what you have so far - it doesn’t need to be finished.
Join us on 24 September at 16:00 CEST.

AI can build slides quickly. But turning reports, notes and data into a presentation with a clear point still takes judgement.
That’s what our next SMART Session, From Data to Deck, is about.
We’ll look at how to give AI the context it actually needs, shape the structure and message yourself, and avoid ending up with a polished deck that still needs to be rewritten.
And this is a hands-on session. If you have a presentation coming up, bring your own material and work with it during the workshop.
You’ll leave with:
• a clearer structure
• a stronger message
• a process you can reuse for future presentations

One week to go until our next SMART Session on building better presentations with AI tools! 🧑💻
From Data to Deck starts with the material nonprofit professionals actually work with: reports, meeting notes, figures and early drafts. Kate Lukien will show how to give AI enough context to be genuinely useful, shape the structure and keep control of the message throughout the process.
During the session, you’ll learn:
• why AI-generated slides can look polished but still lack a clear argument
• how to brief AI with the right content, audience and purpose
• how different tools approach the same presentation task
• a practical process you can reuse for future presentations
🧑🏫 If you have a presentation coming up, you can bring your own material and apply the process to something you actually want to make.

What would make AI genuinely useful the next time you need to build a presentation?
The hardest part is often turning pages of reports, notes and figures into a clear story for a specific audience. AI can help, but only when it understands the purpose of the presentation and the message you need it to communicate.
In our next free SMART Session, AI Solutions Architect Kate Lukien will show you how to guide that process and get better results from the tools you already use.
You’ll learn how to brief AI properly, compare the way different tools handle the same task and follow a practical process you can reuse for future presentations.
Have something coming up? Bring your own material and work with it during the session.

Have you ever asked an AI tool to create a presentation and received something that looked polished but did not quite make the point you wanted?
Our next SMART Session, From Data to Deck, will help you get from your raw material to a clear, purposeful presentation.
During this practical 60-minute session, Kate Lukien, AI Adoption Lead at AI4NGO, will show you how to work with reports, meeting notes, figures and early drafts. You’ll learn how to give an AI tool the right context, shape the structure and argument, and refine the result without losing control of your message.
The session is designed for nonprofit professionals and does not require a technical background. If you already have a presentation to prepare, bring it with you and use the session to make progress on real work.

Beautiful slides are easy to generate. A presentation with a clear message takes a little more thought.
In our next SMART Session, From Data to Deck, we’ll show you how to turn reports, notes, figures and early drafts into a presentation you would feel confident sharing with a board, donor or partner.
Together with Kate Lukien, AI Adoption Lead at AI4NGO, you’ll learn how to:
💡 brief an AI tool effectively
🧭 shape the structure and argument
✍️ improve the output while keeping control of your message
🔁 build a process you can use again and again
Bring a presentation you’re currently working on and apply the method to your own material during the session.

Hi! 👋
It’s officially September, which means summer is (almost) over and we’re slowly getting back into our busy routines 🧑💻
Switching back to work mode after a summer break isn’t always easy, but we have to admit, there is something quite nice about it too. Seeing your colleagues again, catching up over coffee, the return of events and stimulating conversations - we need all that too! And there’s suddenly a little more motivation to learn something new.
So if Responsible AI has been sitting on your “I really should learn more about this” list all summer, September might be a good time to finally do something about it.
And we might have a few reasons for you to do just that 👀
Our SMART Sessions are coming back in October, and this time we’ll be getting practical with Microsoft Copilot and unpacking the EU AI Act (because someone has to make sense of it).
We’re also working on something a little bigger: a webinar on AI and humanitarian work. More on that one in the coming months.
And if October feels too far away, there’s always SkillLab, if you want to learn at your own pace.
So, be honest: are you actually back, or are you still mentally on holiday? ☀️

There is no shortage of news about AI. What is harder to find is information that speaks directly to the realities of nonprofit work.
That is why we started the AI4NGO newsletter 📧
Each edition brings together:
→ Practical AI use cases for nonprofits
→ Important questions about ethics, inclusion and accountability
→ New tools, learning resources and opportunities
→ Ideas and stories worth discussing across the sector
Our goal is simple: to help nonprofits approach AI with greater confidence, curiosity and care.

Today we want to shed some light on what we've been doing behind the scenes, namely, our collaboration with CONCORDIA Social Projects 👀
CONCORDIA is an NGO operating across 7 Eastern European countries, supporting more than 21,000 children in generational poverty through a network of local offices, social workers and partner NGOs.
When we started, CONCORDIA had no AI policy, no governance structure, and no systematic training in place. At the same time, staff were already experimenting with AI tools, raising important questions around ethics, data protection, and responsible use when working with vulnerable children.
Instead of rushing into tools, we focused on building the right foundation first.
Together, we:
🔹 Established a cross-departmental AI Steering Group to guide strategy and governance
🔹 Conducted an organization-wide AI readiness assessment
🔹 Co-created and approved a CONCORDIA AI Use Policy (now being translated into multiple languages)
🔹 Enrolled almost 90 staff members in EU AI Act–compliant AI literacy training
🔹 Launched a train-the-trainer program through C O N C O R D I A Academia to scale learning across countries
🔹 Identified and prioritized AI use cases for operations, programs, and communications
🔹 Initiated the implementation of a self-hosted AI infrastructure to ensure data sovereignty and child protection
This project reinforces something we strongly believe at AI4NGO:
Responsible AI adoption in nonprofits is not about choosing between efficiency and ethics. It’s about designing systems where productivity and mission impact strengthen each other.
We’re excited to continue this journey with CONCORDIA as new pilots move into testing and implementation.
💡 If your organization is navigating similar questions around AI governance, literacy, or responsible adoption, we’d love to connect.

Since 2 August, the transparency rules apply to every organisation in the EU. No exemption for nonprofits.
Chatbots must say they’re AI. AI-drafted advocacy needs a label — unless a human reviewed it and takes responsibility. Synthetic campaign imagery must be marked.
The first step isn’t a policy retreat. It’s a count: one week, four steps, in our new article.
