There’s real value in seeing a business firsthand when you’re helping them build a team in a new market.
While in Melbourne, I had the opportunity to spend some time with the Traffix Group team on Collins Street and get a closer look at the business, its people and the operation they’ve built here as they continue their expansion into South Australia.
With more than 60 people in Melbourne, there’s a wealth of experience behind the business, and I’m excited to be working alongside Kelly to help find the right people to become part of their growing Adelaide presence.
We’re currently recruiting for two exciting opportunities:
Senior Associate

Senior Traffic Engineer

If you’re an experienced traffic engineering professional interested in what Traffix Group is building in Adelaide, please reach out for a confidential conversation. I’d be very happy to share more about the business, the team and the opportunities available.
For experienced construction professionals around Australia and New Zealand, I think Adelaide deserves a serious look right now.
The South Australian market has changed considerably over the course of my career. The scale of projects, the businesses investing here and the opportunities available to experienced delivery professionals have all evolved.
And right now, demand for that experience is significant.
I'm working with some outstanding construction businesses looking for Project Managers, Site Managers and career Contract Administrators with experience delivering complex commercial projects.
For someone considering a move interstate, the conversation naturally goes well beyond finding a job. You want to understand the market you're moving into, the businesses worth knowing, where the strongest opportunities sit and what the move could mean for your career over the longer term.
That's a conversation I'm always happy to have.
If you're currently in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or New Zealand and Adelaide has been somewhere in the back of your mind, feel free to reach out confidentially. I can give you a genuine picture of the market and the opportunities currently available here.
Adelaide's construction market is experiencing an extraordinary period of activity, but history tells us that a strong pipeline doesn't guarantee a strong outcome.
Having worked through several very different market cycles over more than two decades, I've seen what happens when opportunity is everywhere. It can transform businesses and careers, but it can also make it very easy to confuse being busy with moving forward.
For businesses, this is an opportunity to be deliberate about the projects they pursue, the capability they build and the people they develop. For professionals, it's a chance to gain experience, take on responsibility and work alongside people who can genuinely accelerate their development.
There will always be another market cycle. What matters is what you're left with when conditions eventually change.
For me, that's a far more meaningful way to judge who has made the most of the opportunity currently in front of South Australia's construction industry.
There’s a lot happening at Outside Ideas right now, and it’s an exciting time to be partnering with the business as they continue to grow.
Having worked alongside Outside Ideas for around 12 years, I’ve had the opportunity to see the business at many different stages of its journey. What stands out about this period is the momentum they’ve built, with a strong pipeline of work, diverse projects and genuine opportunities opening up across the team.
I’m currently recruiting for several positions across Project Engineering, Project Management and Estimating, and I’m particularly interested in speaking with experienced professionals who are thinking carefully about what they want from the next stage of their career.
There’s a lot I can share about Outside Ideas beyond what you’ll find in a position description, from the projects and leadership to the opportunities that exist within the business.
If you’re curious about what’s happening at Outside Ideas and whether there could be a place for you in their next chapter, please reach out for a confidential conversation.
Somehow, we're already approaching the final quarter of 2026.
This point in the year always seems to shift our attention forward. We start talking about Christmas, planning for next year and thinking about what we might do differently in 2027.
But there's still a meaningful part of this year left.
I've been thinking about how I want to use it, both personally and professionally, and for me that means taking the time to recognise what's already happened, following through on some of the conversations and ideas I've been putting off, and being more intentional about what I want to achieve before the year is over.
I'm naturally someone who is always looking ahead to the next goal or the next thing that could be better, so stopping to reflect doesn't always come easily. But I also know there's value in recognising how far you've come before deciding where you're going next.
Three months is still plenty of time to make something meaningful happen.
I'd love to know, what's one thing you want to achieve before the end of 2026?
A fantastic opportunity has come across my desk this week for a Project Manager looking to take the next step in their career.
I’m currently partnering with a boutique client-side project management consultancy with an impressive portfolio of work across both the private and public sectors, ranging from smaller projects through to major projects valued at up to $200 million.
What makes this opportunity particularly interesting is the breadth of experience it could offer.
It could suit an experienced Project Manager currently working within commercial construction who is interested in moving client-side, or someone already in consultancy who is looking for greater diversity across their projects.
Opportunities offering this combination of project variety, scale and exposure don’t come through often in the South Australian market, so it’s certainly one I’d encourage the right people to explore.
If you’d like to understand more about the consultancy, the projects or whether your experience could be a good fit, please reach out to me for a confidential conversation.
MARKET UPDATE | SEPTEMBER 2026
We're well into the second half of 2026, and the South Australian market is giving us plenty to think about.
Across construction, engineering, architecture and development, there is significant activity, but what interests me most isn't simply how much is happening. It's how businesses are responding to it.
We're seeing greater discipline around growth, major projects creating new levels of local capability, and rising costs placing even greater importance on commercial and technical decision-making.
Having worked across these industries for more than 20 years, I've seen periods of growth shape businesses in very different ways. Some expand, some enter new sectors, some strengthen their position in the market and others become much clearer about where they want to focus.
That's why I think the opportunity in front of South Australia right now goes well beyond the projects being delivered.
The real measure of this period will be the businesses, capability and industry we build alongside them.
Outside Ideas is one of those South Australian businesses that has continued to evolve, expand its capability and create genuine opportunities for its people along the way.
With a diverse portfolio spanning civil infrastructure, structural concrete and large-scale landscaping, the business has built a strong presence across the South Australian construction industry, with some exciting growth ahead.
Having worked closely with Outside Ideas for around 12 years, I’ve had a unique opportunity to see that evolution firsthand and develop a genuine understanding of the business behind the projects.
They’re currently looking to connect with Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers and Estimators as they continue to grow their team. To learn more about the available roles, please see below:

Attracting great people starts with presenting the right opportunity, but there’s another part of the picture that businesses can sometimes overlook: leadership visibility.
The professionals I speak with are paying close attention to the people behind the business. They want to understand who they’ll be learning from, how leadership shows up and whether they can see themselves building a career there.
When leaders contribute to industry conversations, share useful insights and maintain a genuine presence in their sector, they’re building credibility and strengthening their employer brand long before a vacancy needs to be filled.
After more than 25 years in recruitment, I’ve seen how much the reputation of a business and its leaders can influence attraction.
In a competitive talent market, the way you show up in your industry can play an important role in who ultimately wants to work with you.
What a month August has been!
Traditionally, this time of year can be a little quieter in recruitment, but that certainly hasn't been the case for us in 2026. We've had new opportunities coming through, plenty of great conversations and lots happening beyond the office too.
From getting out on site and spending time with the businesses and people we represent, to joining the Schiavello team for Winter Reds and catching up with familiar faces across the industry, there has been plenty happening throughout August.
It's been a huge month at ROUSSOS, and I'm incredibly proud of everything the team has achieved. There's a lot happening across our industries right now, and plenty for us to be excited about in the months ahead.
