Turning community support into real help on the frontline 🇺🇦

Defend Ukraine Appeal is grateful to Uki Movie Club for turning Ukrainian cinema into tangible support for Ukraine’s defenders.

Through the charity screenings of “Okean Elzy. Stormwatch” and “Mavka: The True Myth”, Uki Movie Club raised and donated $4,001 AUD to Defend Ukraine Appeal.

These funds helped provide the 129th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade with:

⚡ 2 generators
🔋 2 portable power stations

This equipment will help keep essential devices powered and operations running where reliable electricity cannot be taken for granted.

A huge thank you to the Uki Movie Club team, everyone who attended the screenings, donated and supported these events. Every ticket, every donation and every act of solidarity can become practical assistance on the frontline.

A huge thank you to FILM.UA for providing *Mavka: The True Myth* and to SWEET.TV for providing *Okean Elzy: Stormwatch* movies for the charity screenings.

🇺🇦 Ukraine marks 35 years of Independence

On Sunday, our Ukrainian community came together in Sydney to honour this milestone - carrying our giant Ukrainian flag along Bondi Beach before gathering at North Bondi RSL for an afternoon of community, culture and solidarity.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Ukrainian servicewoman Lieutenant Viktoriia “Malvina” Savkiv as our special guest. Hearing directly from a defender of Ukraine was a powerful reminder that the independence we celebrate is not something we can take for granted. It is being defended every day - through courage, sacrifice and an unwavering belief in a free Ukraine.

To everyone who marched, attended, volunteered, donated and stood with Ukraine: дякуємо.

Thank you for making the day so meaningful and for continuing to show that Ukraine is never alone.

We are also incredibly grateful for the support shown for DUA’s fundraiser for Malvina’s 214th Separate Assault Battalion “OPFOR” 214-й окремий штурмовий батальйон. Together, we have now raised over $4,500 towards our $10,000 goal to provide urgently needed EcoFlow portable power stations.

🇺🇦 This weekend, we are honoured to welcome Ukrainian servicewoman Viktoriia, callsign “Malvina”, to Brisbane and Sydney’s Ukrainian Independence Day events.

Awarded for bravery by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Viktoriia is a former combat medic and now, at just 25 years old, Commander of the Unmanned Aerial Strike Systems Platoon with the 214 ОШБ 214th Separate Assault Battalion “OPFOR”.

Defend Ukraine Appeal is currently raising $10,000 AUD to purchase EcoFlow portable power stations for Viktoriia’s battalion.

On the frontline, reliable power is essential. These systems help power critical communications, charge operational equipment, support medics working after dark and provide electricity when conventional power is unavailable.
