PADDOCK PROJECT

WE DON’T JUST TALK ABOUT SKILLS. WE PUT THEM TO WORK.

This one started with a rusted-out telehandler bucket sitting in a paddock at the Calliope Men’s Shed.

The lads needed it back in action so they could move materials around their yard.

So… we got to work.

Our mentor Swamy organised the bucket to be delivered to Mark in the workshop back at Deploy.

Tristan and Carl, two of our Alumin8 participants, jumped at the chance to work on it.

Gas cutting.
Welding.
Fabrication.
Problem solving.
Working with real equipment.
On a real job that needed doing.

Big shout out to some of our local businesses getting behind local people and local projects — without needing a big song and dance about it.

Xtreme Engineering Pty Ltd for transporting the bucket to us.
Halo Technologies for cutting and rolling the steel for the new bucket
Walz Group for blasting, painting AND delivering the finished bucket back to the Men’s Shed

From rusted out in a paddock…
to back in the yard doing its job.

Along the way, two young fellas got the chance to put their hands on tools, work alongside industry and learn skills they can take with them into the workforce.

That’s what Paddock Projects are about.

Find a problem.
Bring people together.
Get stuck in.
Build skills.
Give something back.

Just industry, community and people getting things done.

🖤🧡

Real gear. Real skills. Site-ready.

Thanks to Grant Sutherland and NRG for dropping off valves, actuators, expansion joints, flanges and pipe spooling for our students to strip down, rebuild, and master.

This is how we build tomorrow’s workforce today.

Just upgraded the lighting above the work benches in the workshop and wow — didn’t realise how dingy it was in there until we saw the difference! 💡

Massive shout out to Kelian from Voltix for the install — absolute legend, honeycomb light grid looks unreal and the whole workshop feels brighter and safer to work in.

Lights sourced from — thanks for sorting us out with the good gear.

If you’re after an electrician who does quality work and makes your space look this good, give Kelian and the Voltix Co team a call. 🙌⚡

One of the things I love most about living and working in a regional community is that people look after each other.

Over the past few months we’ve had the opportunity to help out the team at the Calliope Men’s Shed with a few small projects. We certainly weren’t expecting anything in return, so we were genuinely touched when the boys turned up with this beautiful set of gum timber steps they had milled and handcrafted as a thank you.

The craftsmanship is incredible, but what really got me was the Deploy logo carved into the timber. It’s such a thoughtful gesture and something we’ll proudly look at every day.

Two of our current trainees, Katie and Shenae, didn’t stand back and watch—they grabbed the tools and installed the steps themselves. Both women are working towards transitioning into heavy industry, and every chance to build practical skills and have a go helps build the confidence they’ll take onto site.

Workforce development isn’t always about classrooms or assessments. It’s about creating opportunities for people to contribute, learn, and feel like they belong. It’s about communities investing in each other.

To the whole crew at the Calliope Men’s Shed, and our Veteran Mentor Swampy who set this one up, thank you. Your generosity means far more than a set of steps. You’ve reminded us that when local people back local people, everyone moves forward.

That’s the kind of community we’re proud to be part of.

Huge thanks to Scotty and the XTREME ENGINEERING PTY LTD Team for jumping in and backing us again today.

We’ve taken on a rebuild project for the Calliope Men’s Shed — restoring their bucket so they can safely move materials around the yard, load sand and cracker dust, and shift firewood into trailers.

We love these kind of projects, that matter. Practical support that keeps community spaces running.

The Xtreme Team never hesitate when it comes to the heavy lifting. They show up, get it done, and back what we’re building — every time.

Appreciate you boys 🤝
