Mum to 3! Teacher of nearly 20 years! Learning and growing in the neurodivergent space with my little man and other gorgeous kids I work with!

These Kids are our future! Let's do all we can to encourage and support them!

I know a lot of people dislike school holidays. But I love them. Not because I get a break from working at school. But because I get to spend more time with my kids and I can take things just a little slower.

I love spending more time listening to them talk and laugh. More time watching them play and giggle..watching them with their friends and cousins enjoying themselves in ways they don't get to during the school term.

Life is a very short trip in reality and I will never regret spending time with the people who make me feel complete or in the spaces that bring me the most peace.

Calling all parents who feel like they are failing!

You are not!
You've all heard me mention my little fella and how kinder was a real struggle for him. Despite the beautiful teachers and the endless help. He really struggled and it broke my heart. I was at my wits end. Had no idea what else to do to help.

But then he started year 1. Please understand it hasn't been all sunshine and roses and he has definitely had some moments where it would seem not a lot of progress as been made...and then he receives awards for determination in writing and following instructions and trying hard with his spelling (two things that he really dislikes).

It hasn't been an easy road and there is a long way to go. But we are so proud of the progress he is making and the way he is responding to the help we are giving him.

Thank you to his wonderful teachers who help him every single day (even on the days when you are at your limit) it's people like you that make all the difference x

A couple of years ago, this little bloke would have happily spent an entire soccer game picking daisies for Mum on the sidelines. 🌼😂
Running around a field for 40 minutes chasing a ball? That seemed like a very questionable life choice.

Fast forward to today, and while he still occasionally needs a little convincing that running is, in fact, part of the game, he's out there giving it his all. More importantly, he's become the kindest little sportsman — encouraging his teammates, celebrating their wins, and taking pride in being part of the team.

What I love most about this journey is that it reminds me that children don't all develop confidence, skills, or interests at the same pace. Sometimes they just need the right environment, the right supports, and people who believe in them before they can believe in themselves.

So often we focus on where a child is struggling, when really we should be looking at what helps them shine.
This growth didn't happen overnight, and it certainly didn't happen alone. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing people who have supported him along the way. He absolutely adores his coaches, Curt and Justin Power who have helped create an environment where he feels valued, capable, and like he truly belongs.

For any parent watching their child take a different path or reach milestones in their own time, keep going. The right support, encouragement, and a few people willing to see the potential beneath the surface can make all the difference.

Because sometimes the little boy picking daisies on the sideline grows into the little boy proudly contributing to his team.
And that's pretty special. ❤️🌼⚽️

In a world obsessed with appearances, achievement, behaviour charts, test scores, and fitting neatly into boxes… so many children are growing up believing they are “not enough.”

Not because they lack intelligence.
Not because they lack potential.
But because they are being measured by systems that were never designed to understand them.

As Carlo Acutis once said:

“Why do people worry so much about the beauty of their body but never about the beauty of their soul?”

The true beauty of a person has never been found in perfection, popularity, or performance.
It is found in their soul.

In their kindness.
Their curiosity.
Their imagination.
Their compassion.
Their resilience.
Their ability to see the world differently.
Their courage to keep going, even after being misunderstood again and again.

Yet so many neurodivergent children spend their school years focusing on everything they can’t do, because the systems around them often highlight deficits before strengths.

They hear:

“Try harder.”
“Sit still.”
“Pay attention.”
“Be more like everyone else.”
And slowly, many begin to believe that who they naturally are is somehow wrong.

But a child who learns differently is not broken.
A child who struggles in a rigid system is not less valuable.
A child who thinks outside the box was never meant to fit perfectly inside one.

Some of the most extraordinary children are the ones carrying invisible battles every single day — trying to navigate environments that overwhelm them while still holding onto their beautiful, unique spirit.

Imagine if we spent less time trying to make children fit the system…
and more time helping them see the beauty within themselves.

Because when a child truly believes:
✨ “I am valued.”
✨ “I am capable.”
✨ “I am understood.”
✨ “I do not need to change who I am to deserve love and respect.”

…everything changes.

Maybe education was never meant to simply produce high grades and perfect behaviour.
Maybe it was meant to protect the soul of a child while helping them discover who they truly are.

And every child deserves adults who can see the beauty in them long before they learn to see it themselves.

Couple of days with a sick boy...doesn't mean we can't still have fun and do some learning in the process.
I was lucky enough to be gifted my Nannas original cook book after she passed earlier this year and so the little guy and I thought we would whip up a couple of her recipes.

Marble cake and Choc Peppermint Slice for the win.
Also had a try of our first home grown Tangelo! This one was a little tangy but overall a really lovely flavour.

Not all learning has to happen in the classroom. Sometimes the best lessons are the ones we learn in life.

So Bluey was on randomly in our house the other day (honestly I could watch it all day its soooo relatable 🤭) and the episode 'Army' was on.

In comes little Jack. The Jack Russell who although has the sweetest personality he really struggles with attention, focus and being able to sit still. I had never really thought too deeply about the characters before, but here comes this little cartoon dog that is so much like my little fella its not funny.

Then he meets Rusty a Kelpie who loves playing army, and like most Kelpies has an amazing ability to concentrate and focus. Through the episode it's constantly explained by Jack that he has trouble remembering things even when he tried really hard. But what he discovers is that things that really spark his interest (like playing army and feeling like his friend is depending on him to get them out of a sticky situation) help him to realise that he really can do the things he has spent so long hearing and believing that he can't.

This episode really hits home for me and I imagine for so many other families with spicy little people who don't necessarily 'fit into the box of school' where they need to sit and focus and concentrate on things that let's face it don't exactly rate high on their 'wow I actually really care about this radar'.

It's not the fault of the school or the teachers, they are teaching what the government tells them to teach..I know this first hand. So there is no judgement here. But what I think it does highlight is the need for understanding and consideration in how we teach these little people and how parents and teachers can work together to find solutions to engaging these kids on a more regular basis.

Engaged kids are focussed kids. And believe me when I say, these little 'Jacks' of the world are some of the most passionate and intelligent little people in our world. We just need to find ways to tap into it.

I love my little 'Jack' so much and it makes my heart sing when he feels he can achieve and contribute like his peers.

If you haven't watched the episode I encourage you to do so. It's truly beautiful and it highlights what so many parents and educators see everyday. Xx

Today I got to play mum and watch my girls compete at their Dio x county. The girls performed so well and I'm so proud of them. Lucy finished in 11th place and Phoebe 26th for her last carnival for Primary school.

It's even more special when you get to see some of the other kids from the school you work in compete and be proud of the achievements they have made. Well done kids.
