Make a difference today on ICS with Restless Development, our valuable and rewarding overseas volunt http://restlessdevelopment.org/ics

International Citizen Service (ICS) is the UK’s leading global volunteering programme that supports young people from all backgrounds to make a difference to global poverty. Funded by the Department for International Development, Restless Development’s ICS programme is building a generation of active citizens across the UK and in developing countries. On a 10+ week placement with Restless Development, volunteers work directly with young people on exciting and valuable programmes that focus on one of our three goal areas: livelihoods and employment, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and civic participation. When they return to the UK, volunteers are involved in social action projects to raise awareness of the issues they encountered on placement overseas

Apply today to be overseas as soon as this summer!

⭐️Co-created by young people from across the world, the Youth Deliver: 6 Key Priorities sets out demands focused on power sharing, resource mobilisation and sovereignty, trust-based partnerships, intergenerational networks, accountability mechanisms, and sustainable movement building:

1️⃣Embed Youth Power in Systems, Not Symbolism
2️⃣Ensure Resource Sovereignty for Youth and Communities
3️⃣Transform Funding Through Trust-Based Partnerships
4️⃣Build an Intergenerational Ecosystem of Learning and Leadership
5️⃣Create Radical Accountability Systems
6️⃣Centre Care and Justice in Sustainable Movement Building

The launch of these priorities marks a definitive call to action. It is a clear demand for institutions to shift how they engage with, resource, and are held accountable to youth leadership, recognising young people not as beneficiaries, but as leaders and experts.

Another power-packed day at ! ⚡️

From the main stage to intimate fireside chats, we’ve been busy making sure young people are seen as leaders, not just beneficiaries. A few highlights:

Emily (UK programmes manager) took the stage with The Global Fund to champion youth leadership.

We received a mega shout-out from the Global Fund team, ‘We’ve talked a little about innovation on this panel, and the way restless do advocacy is the definition’ - (we’re still blushing!).

Two of our Walking the Talk researchers took over a Gates Foundation panel to talk the future of philanthropy. Special shout-out to Mahima for the her work on the Youth Pre-Conference too!

Wrapped up with a deep dive fireside chat into narrative shift and strategic comms with our partners at HIVOS.

And of course, we had to squeeze in a quick group pic! 📸

Usually, on March 8th, we celebrate how far we’ve come.

This year is different. This year, we are looking at what we have to lose.

Celebration is easy. Protection takes leadership.
We are calling on the UK Government to protect progress before it’s too late.
