๐ R U OK? DAY ๐ - A SIMPLE QUESTION CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Today is R U OK? Day โ a day to remind us all to stop, take a moment and check in with the people around us.
๐ฌ โR U OK?โ
Sometimes life can be difficult, and people may be facing challenges that we can't see. This can be especially true for people experiencing homelessness or doing it tough.
At Chip Packet Project Melbourne, we see every day how important kindness, compassion and human connection can be. โค๏ธ
Our thermal blankets are one small way we can show someone that they are seen, they matter and their community cares about them. ๐
Today, we encourage everyone to look out for one another.
๐ Take the time to ask.
๐ฌ Take the time to listen.
โค๏ธ Show kindness.
๐ค Let someone know they are not alone.
You don't need to have the perfect words or all the answers. Sometimes simply being there and listening can make a bigger difference than you realise.
And remember โ checking in shouldn't be just for one day.
๐ Ask today. Check in tomorrow. Keep the conversation going.
From all of us at Chip Packet Project Melbourne, we hope you'll take a moment today to ask someone:
๐ R U OK? ๐

๐ WE WERE ON CHANNEL 7โS BRIGHT SIDE FOR THE CHIP PACKET PROJECT MELBORNE! ๐
Weโre incredibly excited to share that Chip Packet Project Melbourne (CPPM) was featured on Channel 7โs Bright Side last night! ๐บ
Our little community project is making a BIG difference โ transforming used chip packets into waterproof, insulating survival blankets for people experiencing homelessness and others doing it tough. โค๏ธ
But with demand for our blankets continuing to grow, we need your help! Our blankets are made entirely by volunteers, and with requests coming from organisations including The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 and Bread Hub Victoria, our small team of regular volunteers simply canโt keep up. ๐ช
๐ WE NEED:
๐โโ๏ธ More volunteers โ there are lots of different ways you can help, and you donโt have to live locally!
๐ฐ Funding support โ to help us purchase resources needed to make more blankets and get them to the people who need them.
๐ฅ And thank you to Chappy's Chips in Oakleigh for supplying us with rolls and chips packets, along with donations from our wonderful local community.
Also thank you to Diamond Valley Mitre 10 for supplying the plastic.
Every blanket represents hours of volunteer time, donated materials and, most importantly, community care and kindness. โค๏ธ
If you saw us on Bright Side last night and would like to be part of what we're doing, weโd love to hear from you!

โค๏ธ A BLANKET THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE โค๏ธ
One of the most rewarding parts of the Chip Packet Project Melbourne is knowing that the blankets made by our wonderful community are finding their way to people who really need them. ๐ฅฐ
We recently had the pleasure of hearing from Steve, who was given one of our recycled chip packet survival blankets by Zippy from Bread Hub Victoria.
Steve is incredibly appreciative of the blanket and was very pleased to receive it. โค๏ธ His kind words are a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do.
๐๏ธโป๏ธ Every chip packet collected
๐งต Every blanket made
๐ค Every person who helps
โค๏ธ Makes a difference.
Our blankets are made from recycled chip packets and other non-recyclable plastic, transforming waste that would otherwise go to landfill into something practical that can provide warmth, protection and dignity to someone in need.
A huge thank you to Zippy from Bread Hub Victoria for helping get one of our blankets to Steve, and to everyone who continues to collect packets, make blankets and support the Chip Packet Project Melbourne. ๐
Together, we really can turn waste into warmth. โค๏ธโป๏ธ
