Harry Young

The Bottlecap, The Ashtray, The Spaceship, or just The PEC.
The old Perth Entertainment Centre had a lot of nicknames back in the day due to its unusual shape.

Recreated and reimagined from scratch using old photos from before its demolition in 2011, this cast concrete sculpture has proven a slightly controversial winner at the 2026 Joondalup Community Art Awards.

I've been putting off posting about it here, having won the award two years in a row now and feeling a little awkward about it 😅 but I do want to express how grateful I am to the City of Joondalup and everyone involved in making this exhibition possible.

While some artists might see their 2 similar concepts win awards and try to push for a 3rd, I'm taking this as a sign to completely switch things up.
Although I'll still be continuing this architectural series in the background, it's time to present something new and different in future community exhibitions.

After a slow start to 2026, I'm looking forward to getting back to work and completing all my half finished projects and requests, and also branching out into new ideas and materials.

Thank you so much to everyone who has shown kindness and support. I really do love being a part of our local art community!

Northam Public Library and (former) Council Offices.
I know I've been putting it off for ages and thank you to those who have been waiting patiently, but I'm finally making my Northam sculpture set available in a limited run of 10 sets.
(note these pieces may take a little longer than usual to produce)
I've also added a few new fine-art prints to my site if you're interested in paper or canvas prints.
Looking back, this was an absolutely insane thing to do 😅 but I feel the final product was so worth the time and effort

A tribute to a lost Perth city icon.
This cast concrete sculpture preserves and celebrates the architectural legacy of Perth's own retro spaceship as a piece of functional art.
