We have such a lot to celebrate. Firstly our wonderful director Bec, 2026 recipient of the Ann Gooch Award for her significant contribution to the furtherance of barbershop worldwide. And also our resilient Mike Donnelley who was finally able to join us last week after a long time unwell - and was immediately presented with a longevity award from BHA for being a member for 30 years (thanks Russ). Mike has worked long and hard to advance Men's Barbershop in Australia and we are just delighted to hear him singing with us again.

Huge congratulations to our wonderful director Bec Hewitt!!!!!

We are so proud that she has been awarded the 2026 SingUnited International Ann Gooch Award.

This is the information from SingUnited Australia:

The Ann Gooch Award is presented to members from outside North America who have contributed significantly to the furtherance of barbershop worldwide.
Bec is a chapter-at-large member of Region #34 SingUnited Australia and sang lead in regional quartet champions iCappella and Hi-Jinx. She is a member of Region #34 and SingUnited International Faculty and is current Region #34 Education Coordinator.
Bec has provided coaching and assistance to prospective choruses in Australia and Japan who have gone on to charter with the international organization. She has travelled to Region #35 (New Zealand) to provide training and support to their regional management team (RMT) and was appointed Satellite Region #30 mentor by the SingUnited Worldwide Committee to continue working with choruses and quartets in Japan.
Her nominator wrote, “She always makes herself open and available to share her experiences and invaluable wisdom with others. She is humble and kind and is an absolutely wonderful ambassador for Sweet Adelines both in Australia and internationally. I am very proud to say that she is one of the brilliant leaders in our region.”
Bec will receive the award at our 78th International Convention & Competition in Columbus, Ohio (USA) this October.
