What’s better than a brand new bike?

The owner of this 2009 Orca just loved the way it both rode and looked.

After 11 years of use the paint was failing and the groupset had seen better days.

So we completely re finished the frame at then updated the groupset to modern Shimano 105.

Result, a super unique ride that looks and rides better than the day it rolled of the factory floor in Spain!

Most people will agree that being cooped up at home all week only fuels the fire for weekend adventure.

“I’d love to explore some new roads, try something completely different, maybe I should buy a gravel bike?”

What if I told you that you already had one!

I have been really enjoying spending some more time off road on my stock standard roadie. It opens up a massive range of new riding options and is just a lot of fun.

How do you get involved and start riding new gravel for minimal cost?

1 - drop the tyre pressure! 60 psi for people using tubeless and 75psi if you using standard tubes.

2 - 28s! Most road bikes can accept at least a 28mm tyre. Throw a set on and you’ll find they perform great for all riding while giving you an edge on gravel.

3 - stick to hard pack! Anything that a standard 2wd car can handle you can ride on a standard road bike without trouble. Soft boggy terrain will make your life hell!

4 - Cool the pace. Take it easy and don’t push things. Road tyres are not optimal for gravel so keep your cornering smooth and your braking distances long.
