We celebrate music written by women through performance, mentoring and community collaboration. Mirabilis Collective
Because music by women belongs centre stage. We’re an intergenerational ensemble of professional women musicians, amplifying underrepresented voices through story-driven concerts, workshops, recordings, and regional tours. What makes us different?
• We perform music written exclusively by women—from Baroque gems to Missy Higgins, Clara Schumann to First Nations composers. Every concert blends storytelling with diverse repertoire to celebrate identity, resilience, and creative power. Who we serve:
• Music lovers seeking something fresh and meaningful
• Presenters looking for impactful, story-driven programming
• Schools and communities seeking access to world-class female role models in music
• Funders and supporters aligned with gender equity, education, and the arts
What we offer:
• Stunning live performances with narration
• Community and school workshops
• Mentorship for young women musicians
• Original Australian music and commissioned works
What problems we solve:
• Underrepresentation of women in music
• Limited access to diverse and inclusive repertoire
• Lack of visibility for Australian women composers and musicians
• A need for engaging concerts that build connection and community
Next steps:
• Follow us for upcoming events, behind-the-scenes content, and ways to get involved.

The merch has arrived!
Our brand new Mirabilis Collective T-shirts are here just in time for Hear Her Now — and Artistic Director Stephanie Nicholls has taken on the very important job of first model.
You’ll spot our core ensemble and festival volunteers wearing them across the 12 days, so if you need help finding your way, have a question, or just want to say hello, look out for the Mirabilis logo.
Very satisfying to see something else on the festival checklist become real.

“This music belongs here.”
A wonderful new feature in Seesaw Magazine explores the thinking behind Hear Her Now and the work Mirabilis has been doing to bring music by women centre stage.
Artistic Director Stephanie Nicholls speaks with Will Yeoman about more than 900 years of repertoire, four new works by Western Australian composers, our Wheatbelt songwriters Jan Smith and Kay Weaver, the next generation of musicians, VIVID, and why changing repertoire takes more than a single concert.
Thank you to Will and Seesaw for such a thoughtful feature.

Do you remember Bridal Train — or does your family have a war bride story of its own?
For many West Australians, Bridal Train brings back memories of the women who left Perth after the war to begin new lives far from home.
We’d love to hear your memories. Did someone in your family travel on a bridal train? Did you grow up hearing stories about the war brides? Or does this song take you back to a particular time or place?
Mirabilis Collective will perform a new chamber arrangement of Bridal Train at HOMEGROWN on 8 October as part of the Hear Her Now Festival.

Today is the final day of our Creative Australia MATCH Lab campaign.
Hear Her Now is Australia’s first chamber music festival programmed entirely with music by women. Across 12 days in October 2026, the festival will bring together 100 works by 100 women spanning more than 900 years of music.
The festival will feature professional and emerging musicians, community participation, four new commissions, free events, student performances, and concerts across multiple Perth venues.
As a volunteer-run registered charity, Mirabilis Collective relies on community support to make ambitious projects like this possible. Every donation helps us commission new work, support musicians, create opportunities for emerging artists, and share extraordinary music with audiences across Perth.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated, shared a post, attended an event, volunteered their time, or encouraged others to support the campaign. Your belief in this project is helping turn an idea into a festival.
Today is the final day to have your donation matched through Creative Australia’s highly competitive MATCH Lab program. While donations will continue to be welcomed beyond today, this is the most impactful day to give.
