A very special 101st birthday celebration for Giuseppina Raina at MYVISTA Balcatta!

There was cake, live music, plenty of smiles and even a staff performance of the Macarena!

It was wonderful to celebrate such an incredible milestone surrounded by family, friends, residents, and our MYVISTA team. Here’s to 101 years of wonderful memories and many more happy moments to come.

At MYVISTA, culturally appropriate care starts with understanding.

Our team recently took part in Cultural Diversity Training, strengthening our knowledge, awareness and appreciation of the many cultures, beliefs and traditions that make up our MYVISTA community.

Every resident has a unique story, shaped by their culture, language, life experiences and values. By continuing to learn, we can provide care that is respectful, inclusive and truly person-centred.

✈️ Our MYVISTA Mirrabooka residents were off on another wonderful Armchair Travel adventure and this time travelling to the beautiful Philippines!

Residents immersed themselves in Filipino culture and enjoyed a delightful experience filled with traditional Filipino food and drinks, vibrant performances and plenty of smiles along the way.

From tasting delicious flavours to enjoying lively entertainment, the morning was a celebration of culture, community and discovering places from around the world.

Armchair Travel continues to be a much-loved activity at MYVISTA Mirrabooka, creating opportunities to explore different countries, spark memories, encourage conversation and experience the joy of travel together.

Maraming salamat to everyone who helped bring the Philippines to Mirrabooka for such a special experience ❤️

Handmade with care, shared with love.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteer Suzanne from Knitt and Knatter, who visited MYVISTA Balcatta and generously presented residents with a beautiful collection of handmade creations.

Residents received knitted blankets, scarves, dolls, fidget blankets, dementia dolls and tactile sensory blankets, each thoughtfully made to bring warmth, comfort, engagement and joy.

These special gifts are more than handmade items; they provide opportunities for connection, comfort and meaningful sensory experiences, particularly for residents living with dementia.

Residents were delighted and touched by Suzanne’s kindness and the time and care that has gone into every piece.

A special morning of stories, memories and connection at MYVISTA Balcatta.

Residents had the wonderful privilege of receiving a copy of a very special book from our dedicated volunteer, Vince Garreffa. The book shares Vince’s journey growing up in the Calabria region of Italy and his life and experiences after moving to Australia.

Written in English and filled with beautiful Italian food recipes, the book offers not only a glimpse into Vince’s personal story but also celebrates culture, tradition and the importance of food in bringing people together.

Vince spent the morning speaking with residents and sharing the inspiration behind his book, creating many meaningful conversations and memories.
Residents were incredibly grateful, especially those with an Italian background, who enjoyed reconnecting with familiar stories, traditions and flavours.

💙 Wise Up, Rise Up against Elder Abuse 💙

Yesterday at MYVISTA, we recognised World Elder Abuse Awareness Day through meaningful conversations, informative talks and educational videos designed to build awareness and understanding.

For our Residential Aged Care customers, the sessions created opportunities to learn more about recognising elder abuse, understanding available supports and having open discussions in a safe and welcoming environment, all followed by afternoon tea and time together.

Our Home Care customers also received information with care workers providing the opportunity to ask questions and access support in a way that feels comfortable and personal.

At MYVISTA Balcatta Residential Aged Care, residents finished the session with one of their favourite activities a lively game of pool noodle tennis! bringing plenty of laughter, movement and connection to end the afternoon on a positive note.

At MYVISTA, we believe creating informed, connected and supportive communities helps older people feel empowered, respected and heard.

Learning never stops at MYVISTA!

Recently, staff from across our residential aged care, retirement living and corporate teams came together for our Essentials Training program, strengthening the knowledge and skills that help us deliver safe, high-quality care and services every day.

One of the hands-on activities involved practising the correct donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE), an important skill that helps protect our residents, customers, visitors and fellow team members.

It's fantastic to see staff from all service areas learning together, sharing experiences, and reinforcing the standards that support the wellbeing of everyone in our MYVISTA community.
