Three beautiful girls, three completely different approaches to painting flowers — abstract, expressive and surreal.
🌸 One inspired by Estonian artist Jaanika Talts, another exploring abstraction, and the third — an original surrealistic work with delicate, transparent roses and glass-like petals.

Our final lesson and final project of Term 3 — Still Life Watercolor: Transparent Bottles ✨

Students explored the beauty of transparency using watercolor glazing techniques, masking fluid, and different methods of paint application to create light, reflections, glass and depth.

And the results… I truly think they are absolutely beautiful. 💙

Such a wonderful project to finish the term!

Chris came to me just a few months ago with one clear goal: he wanted to paint portraits.

But I encouraged him not to start with portraits straight away. We began with the foundations — still life, landscapes, colour, light, form and composition.

Step by step, Chris moved on to painting portraits of his family. And now he’s working on large-scale portraits and making incredible progress! 🎨

He spends a lot of time painting at home and comes to the studio every week ready for new knowledge, new techniques and new challenges.

This is what progress looks like — strong foundations, lots of practice, and a real passion for painting. ❤️

Learning to see before learning to draw. 👁️🎨

For two lessons, our young artists worked from life using soft pastels.

They learned how to find their composition with a viewfinder, judge proportions and scale, place objects correctly, and observe tone, light and shadow.

So much thinking goes into a drawing before the first mark is even made.

And the results? Absolutely stunning. 🤍

My wonderful young artists have just completed two beautiful projects! ❤️

For their oil painting project, they could choose one of three styles — Realism, Impressionism, or Expressionism — and explore their own way of working with colour, light and brushwork.

Their second project was soft pastel drawing from real objects, developing their observational drawing skills and learning to really see shape, colour, light and form.

They did an absolutely amazing job, and I’m so proud of every one of them! 🎨✨
