Good leaders don’t just expect their people to manage their own boundaries. Sometimes, they actively protect them.

High performers and natural “givers” are often the people most likely to keep working, even when they’re supposed to be resting.

Leadership means noticing who never switches off, and protecting them before burnout does it for them.

Who are the givers in your organisation and how are you protecting them? Let me know me below.

The most impactful leaders don't have all the answers. Impactful leaders ask better questions, communicate with clarity, build trust and influence outcomes. That's exactly what we'll be exploring at , a two-day leadership and communication workshop in Bunbury on 7-8 October 2026.

If you're ready to strengthen your leadership presence, improve communication, and increase your influence, Blair Stubna and I invite you to join us.

Creating Coherence in Workplaces

What keeps people in an organisation isn't a retention strategy. It's how they feel when they show up every day. I recently joined Charlie Gunningham on the hashtag Podcast to discuss the powerful connection between psychological safety, innovation, and retention. Our conversation explored a fundamental leadership challenge: creating workplaces where people feel safe enough to contribute their best thinking, raise difficult issues, challenge the status quo, and bring their whole selves to work.

In working with leaders on a daily basis, I share the following:
When people don't feel heard, they slowly disengage.
When they don't feel safe, innovation disappears.
When they don't feel valued, they leave.

The most successful organisations understand that retention is not about persuading people to stay. It's about creating an environment they don't want to leave. As leaders, perhaps the most important question we can ask ourselves is:
"What am I doing today that helps my people feel seen, heard, valued, and safe?"
