These homemade dino eggs were fun to make with my daughter and we had so much fun with them at today's session. Kids cracked, dug and excavated to discover the dinosaur hiding inside. One egg even had twins! 🦖🦖

Here's what I did..

You’ll need:
🪨 1½ cups flour
☕ 1½ cups coffee grounds - not 💯 needed but added to the texture.
🧂 ¾ cup salt
💧 ¾ cup water
🦖 Small dinosaur figures - or anything really!

How to make them: Mix the flour, coffee grounds and salt together. Add the water, mixing until you have a dough-like consistency that holds together. You might need to get your hands dirty mixing it together.
Take a handful, flatten it out, pop a little dinosaur inside and mould the mixture around it to create an egg.
Place on a lined baking tray and bake at 95°C for 30-40 mins. Allow them to cool completely before your little palaeontologists get to work! 🔨🦖

Tip: If the mixture feels crumbly, add a tiny bit more water. You want it to hold together like playdough, not be wet.

Then let the excavating begin! 🦕

Last term was filled with potion play, nature babies, art discoveries, nature walks, process painting, construction, loose parts play, muddy play, storytimes, clay creations, fairy adventures, gardening, flower play, and plenty of beautiful mess.
But more than anything, it was filled with children simply being themselves and having freedom to play while parents find connection and time to slow down in this busy world.

For this Dijiba season, Little Creators will run fortnightly on Fridays (10:30-11:30) with an extra session allocated if a session if cancelled due to heavy rain.

Little Creators is a relaxed outdoor play session designed for young children and their parents to slow down, explore, and connect. Set under the trees at the beautiful Ellis House gardens. All sessions are planned and run by Erin, an experienced and passionate early years teacher and nature lover.

Siblings are only $10 so bring the bigger kids too.

Starting in July, Gather & Grow is a gentle session in nature for parents and babies to slow down, connect, and enjoy time together. Each session includes songs and rhymes, a nature and art wander, sensory and soft play, and a conversation prompt to support connection and reflection.
