Not For Prophets

Everything that was made was made by Jesus. Put him in the "made by Jesus" column and he has to create himself before he exists. That is a contradiction. So he belongs with the uncreated God.

John could not have said it more strongly. Because the claim is so shocking, people assume he must have meant something weaker. In fact, he meant exactly what he wrote: the Word was God.

Thomas says, "My Lord and my God." Jesus does not rebuke him. He calls it belief — and John says that confession is the whole point of the book.

Muslims love that challenge. Most Christians shrink and say it is subtle. John could not have made it clearer — and because it is so clear, people decide he could not have meant it. But he did.

"Show me where Jesus says he's God." John 1 answers that in the very first verse. Tom and Asher walk through the Word, take on the Jehovah's Witness translation, and draw one simple napkin diagram that settles whether Jesus was made. New episode of Not For Prophets is out now.

Ephesians 2 is one-sided: dead in trespasses, made alive with Christ. You can't consistently say salvation is all of grace and still deny that God effectually saves.

God opened Lydia's heart. He doesn't drag people kicking and screaming; by regeneration he gives a new will that wants to come to Christ.

Offered grace can be resisted. Irresistible grace is sent into the heart by the Spirit — immediate, infallible, and it makes the person born again.

People say if God is all love he couldn't limit his love. But God is not only loving — he is also sovereign, holy, and seeking his own glory.

Jesus is God. Change my mind.
