🐾 KITTEN SEASON… WHAT IS IT REALLY? 🐾

Kitten season or as we call it, CRAZY SEASON, usually runs from spring through to autumn.

But behind the cute kitten photos, tiny paws and happy adoption posts is a side of rescue you don't always see.

It’s 2am bottle feeds.
It’s kittens too weak to suckle.
It’s weighing them and praying the scales move in the right direction.
It's walking past kittens and checking on them several times to make sure everyone is alive.
It’s endless washing, cleaning and feeding.
It’s emergency vet trips and unexpected bills
It's the unknown.

And sometimes, despite everything, we lose them.💔

This year, kitten season hit us on the 1st of September. Our first call was 4 orphaned kittens, only around a week old. A week later came a mum and her 6 babies. The very next day, another 3 orphans, then another 3 and it hasn't stopped, not to mention the amount of families that have contacted us to surrender their cat.

And that was just the beginning.

Suddenly we had multiple litters needing round the clock care, foster homes, vet treatment and supplies, while our small team tried to keep up.

This is the reality of kitten season. We have had 40 cats and kittens come into care since the 1st of September, and despite all efforts we unfortunately have had to say goodbye to 5 sweet innocent babies that were just to weak and fragile for this world. 💔💔

We share the happy endings because we love showing you what your support makes possible. But we also want you to understand why we desperately need the community behind us.

One foster home can mean the difference between us being able to say YES to a litter or having to turn them away.

You don't have to be an expert, we provide support and guidance.

Kitten season means formula, bottles, worming, flea treatment, vaccinations, microchipping, desexing and vet bills and the costs add up incredibly quickly.

Even $2 or more can help put food in a tiny tummy or contribute towards the care of a kitten who needs us.

💕 Luna Update 💕

Earlier this month, we welcomed sweet little Luna into our rescue as a surrender, and this tiny girl has truly shown us what a little warrior she is! 👑💕

Luna may be a pocket-sized princess, but she has a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. When she first came into our care, she was struggling with a pretty severe skin flare-up, with the skin around her eyes particularly red, irritated and puffy. 🥺

After a couple of trips to the vets, lots of care and plenty of TLC, we are SO happy to say that we finally seem to have her flare-up under control! 🥰

Luna is looking absolutely amazing, and our vets are really happy with how she is progressing. ❤️

And now comes the exciting part… sweet Luna is ready to start searching for her forever family! 🏡💕

This little lady is wonderful with cats, great with children and even tolerates the two resident kelpies, which is pretty impressive for such a tiny princess! 😂👑

Luna would make a beautiful addition to the right family and is ready to be spoiled exactly as she deserves.

Because of her sensitive skin, Luna will need to remain an indoor-only kitty to help protect her from the sun and prevent further flare ups. However, we think she would absolutely LOVE a secure cat run where she can safely enjoy some fresh air and sunshine without putting her skin at risk. 🌿🐾

After everything this little warrior has been through, we can’t wait to see her find the loving forever home she deserves. 💕🏡
