Ginger Ninja Rescue
We are a cat rescue in Adelaide rehabilitating, fostering and rehoming stray and neglected cats Foster carers are always welcomed
We are a small scale rescue who rely on a network of foster homes to house our animals until they are adopted. We mainly rescue cats and kittens from high kill pounds, strays on the street or abandoned/dumped animals. Our cats are vet checked, Vaccinated, Microchipped, Desexed, worm and flea treated before being rehomed. By doing this we are preventing our cats from having uncontrolled litters which contribute to the thousands of cats and kittens that are put to sleep in pounds every year. We are mainly based in SA however we have rescue contacts in Victoria aswell. Cats and kittens are our specialty (especially our ginger friends!) however we occasionally have dogs, puppies, rabbits, rats and birds.

❣️ Ready for adoption ❣️
These 2 are the sweetest little girls you will meet! If you are searching for the most cuddly time wasters, look no further. From purrs you can hear across the room, to curling up into your arms for nothing short of unconditional loving 🩷
Yoko - the bold and brave. First up for in your face for all the loves and pats, and purrs you’ll hear for miles. She is a super in your face, needs to follow you everywhere kind of cat! Loves nothing more than a good chin scratch and playing with her sister.
Suki - the quiet but honest. Although not as in your face as her sister.
She cherishes the quiet moments to come and lay in your arms, or give a quiet meow for cuddles. This girls favourite thing is exploring and having a nap, belly up and cuddled in with Yoko!
Age 9ish months
Vaccinated, desexed and microchipped
Must be adopted together

Guess how old this cat is!?!?!
Meet Clementine our newest addition. This girl is covered in fleas, full of worms, is malnourished, has flea bitten ears, mouth ulcers, swollen gums and teeth falling out.... and she weights only 2.6kg.
She is probably only about 2 years old 😭 and the cuddliest, most sweetest girl.
This girl has lived a life we probably dont want to know about, and thanks to a member of public she is with us now. She is on all the good medications atm after having x-rays and blood work done. Once she feels better she will have a full dental, be desexed and finally find a home. Oh and she is confirmed FIV negative :)
Welcome sweet angel 😇

KITTEN SEASON IS HERE. WHAT DO I DO IF I FIND A KITTEN OUTSIDE?
We are now seeing a massive increase in calls for help for kittens found outside. Please please please read up on what to do if you find kittens.
It is essential to the health of the babies that we find mum. Taking babies off mum can be a death sentence for the babies. With only so many neo natal foster carers in South Australia, and the very real risk of disease transmission (we can’t just stick kittens on a lactating mum) we need to take all the steps we can to keep mum and babies together. Mum can also develop mastitis and suffer severe pain and infection ( or potentially die) if you remove her babies. So please do not take her babies unless the babies genuinely need intervention. And if you find a cat in labour, please give her privacy and space to feed her babies. The stress of interfering can cause her to leave her babies without their first and most important colostrum drink!
There are situations when we need to take babies, just like our newest babies who we will introduce shortly. Found crying in a wall after mum accidentally hid them too well. Mildly dehydrated from a day without milk; on a toasty day this week.
Kitten lady has a great video on how to judge the situation and when to intervene. Please, watch the video here:

SENSITIVE CONTENT WARNING
SCROLL ON - MEDICAL IMAGES
Yesterday we had a cat surrendered into the rescue who was heavily pregnant. She was eating, sweet and loving, and she was also incredibly pregnant.
I say “was” because she was pregnant with 6 kittens, and was surrendered to us with “discharge”, leaking from her uterus.
Sadly this morning when our vet examined her, it was found that she was carrying unviable babies. No heart beat, no movement. What this warranted was emergency surgery.
If you didn’t know this, cats are induced ovulators. This means they can get pregnant by different fathers, at different times all because their biological reproductive system is so different to ours.
This mum was walking around with at least 4 different foetus ages in her body. Sadly, her body couldn’t sustain them.
This is yet another reason to desex your pets.
If you didn’t have enough reasons to do so before, here is yet another one.
