DAY 5: YOUR PERIOD HAS ENTERED ITS VILLAIN ERA. 🩸

Remember when your period was predictable?

It arrived.
It stayed for a few days.
It left.

Lovely little system.

Then perimenopause said:

“Would you like absolutely no idea what's happening?”

Suddenly your cycle can be shorter.
Longer.
Heavier.
Lighter.
Earlier.
Later.

You might skip a month…

…and then apparently your uterus has a personal vendetta. 🫠

Changing periods are one of the common signs of perimenopause, but that doesn't mean every change in bleeding should automatically be blamed on hormones.

Very heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods, bleeding after s*x, or bleeding after menopause should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Because yes, perimenopause can be unpredictable.

But “it's just menopause” shouldn't be a substitute for checking what's actually going on.

So if your period has recently gone from calendar appointment to surprise guest…

You're not necessarily imagining it.

And you're definitely not alone.

🩸 Want to know what's normal, what's not, and when it's worth getting checked?

We've created a FREE printable 'Unusual Bleeding in Perimenopause' resource to help you keep track of what's happening and know what to look out for.

Head to our website and download your free copy. https://elladee.com.au/resources/

Save this post for later, and share it with someone whose period has also entered its villain era. 😂

**DAY 4: THE BRAIN FOG FILES 🧠🌫️**

You walk into a room.

You stop.

You stare.

You have absolutely no idea why you're there.

So you walk back out.

Then, three seconds later:

**“OH! I needed my phone.”**

Except… your phone is already in your hand.

😂

Brain fog can be one of those perimenopause symptoms that sounds funny until you're trying to find the word you *know* you know, forgetting why you opened an email, losing your train of thought mid-sentence, or wondering how you're supposed to function when your brain feels like it's running on 3%.

It can be unsettling.

Especially when you're used to being the person who remembers everything, gets s**t done and can hold a million things in your head at once.

So if your brain feels a little… **different** lately, you're not alone.

It doesn't mean you're losing your mind.

But persistent or troublesome cognitive changes are worth talking about with your healthcare professional (particularly because there can be multiple reasons for brain fog, and it's important not to assume every change is automatically menopause).

For now?

Write the list down.
Set the reminder.
Walk into the room anyway.

And if you forget why you're there…

"Welcome to the Fk-it club."🩷

**Save this for the next time your brain decides to take an unscheduled coffee break. ☕️**

And **share it with the woman who just walked into a room and immediately forgot why.** 😂

“IT’S JUST STRESS.” 🙃

But let's talk about why you're stressed.

You're managing the household.
Remembering everyone's appointments.
Keeping track of school notes, birthdays, groceries and what's for dinner.
Not only showing up at work but being expected to function under the weight.
Supporting your partner.
Checking in on your aging parents.
Being the person everyone comes to when they need something.

And somewhere in between all of that, you're supposed to look after yourself, too.

Drink more water, eat more protein. Exercise to increase bone density. Look youthful but not too youthful. Dress your new body shape. Sound familiar??

That's the mental load. And for so many women, it's been quietly accumulating for YEARS.

Now throw perimenopause into the mix.

The sleep starts going to s**t. Your concentration isn't what it used to be. You're forgetting words, feeling overwhelmed by things you used to handle easily, and wondering why your brain feels like it has 47 tabs open and they're ALL playing out of tune music. 🫠

It's not that you can't cope anymore.

It's that you're trying to carry an enormous load while your body is going through significant changes.

And maybe, just maybe, the answer isn't to get better at coping with everything.

Maybe it's to put some of the bloody load down.

Ask for help. Share the responsibility. Set boundaries. Talk to someone about your symptoms. Stop treating your own needs as the last item on an endless to-do list.

Because you don't get a medal for being the woman who holds everything together while quietly falling apart.

So here's a question worth asking yourself today:

What are you carrying that doesn't have to be yours alone? 🩷

Join us on the 15th October for a screening of M Factor 2: Before the Pause. Connection and Understanding is so important for women in this phase of life.

“You’re too young for menopause.”

If we had a dollar for every woman who has heard some version of this…

Here's the thing:

Perimenopause can begin years before your final period.

So when a woman in her 30s walks into a consultation with new symptoms: sleep disruption, anxiety, brain fog, changing periods, palpitations, hot flushes, mood changes, joint pain, vaginal symptoms or a whole grab-bag of WTF, “you’re too young” isn't an explanation.

It can be the beginning of a conversation.

Because there is a bigger issue here.

Women have reported being dismissed, disbelieved and having their symptoms or pain attributed to things like anxiety, menstruation, lifestyle or “just getting older”. Australia's survey found that two-thirds of respondents reported experiencing gender bias or discrimination in healthcare.

That's where conversations about medical gaslighting, gender bias and medical misogyny matter.

But here's our important caveat:

Not every symptom is menopause.

Good menopause care isn't about blaming everything on hormones.

It's about listening properly, considering the possibilities, investigating when appropriate, and making sure women understand their options.

You deserve to be taken seriously AND properly assessed.

So if someone tells you:

“You're too young for menopause.”

You can politely respond:

“Okay. If it's not perimenopause, what else could be causing these symptoms and how are we going to investigate that?”

Knowledge is power.

And asking better questions is part of advocating for your health. 🩷

It’s October. Which means Menopause Awareness Month is officially ON.

And around here, we’re not celebrating by putting a purple ribbon on everything and telling women to “embrace the journey”. 😂

We’re talking about what actually happens.

The weird symptoms.
The unexpected symptoms.
The “is this normal?” symptoms.
The symptoms you thought were just you falling apart.

We’ll be talking hormones, sleep, s*x, brain fog, anxiety, bleeding, heart health, bones, MHT, lifestyle, libido, relationships, work and all the other delightful plot twists of perimenopause and menopause.

Because knowing what’s happening in your body changes the conversation.

31 days. No bulls**t.

Follow along. We’ve got a LOT to say. 🩷
