Since 2017, Peace Adda is a flagship initiative of SERAC-Bangladesh aimed at fostering social cohesion and preventing violence and conflicts within communities.
Peace begins with the choices we make every day: choosing to listen, understand, respect, and stand together.
A peaceful world is not built in a single day. It grows through everyday actions, meaningful conversations, and our shared responsibility to create spaces where everyone feels valued and heard.
Let’s invest in peace today, tomorrow, and every day because every small step can help shape a more peaceful future for all.
On 21 September, the International Day of Peace reminds us of the importance of building a world where peace, dignity, respect, and understanding are part of everyday life.
This year’s theme, “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” highlights the role of everyday architects of peace. People who take action in their communities, bring people together, encourage dialogue, and lay the foundations for lasting peace from the ground up.
Peace does not begin only at the highest levels. It begins in our homes, communities, classrooms, workplaces, and conversations. When we listen to different perspectives, respect our differences, reject violence and discrimination, and choose dialogue over division.
We continues to create spaces where young people can come together, share perspectives, ask questions, understand differences, and explore peaceful solutions to the challenges around us.
Because investing in peace means investing in people, communities, dialogue, and a future where everyone can live with dignity, safety, and hope.

Peace begins when you choose yourself first. Your well-being, your values, and the things that truly matter to you. But choosing yourself doesn’t mean stepping away from others, it means learning to set healthy boundaries, speak up with courage, and respond to challenges with purpose.
As young people, we have the power to create a culture where peace starts from within and grows through our everyday choices.
Choose self-respect. Choose kindness. Choose dialogue. Choose peace.
Because when you protect your peace, you become stronger and better equipped to spread it around you.

ট্রান্সপারেন্সি ইন্টারন্যাশনালের (টিআই) ২০২৫ সালের দুর্নীতির ধারণা সূচক (CPI)-এর তথ্য অনুযায়ী দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় বাংলাদেশের অবস্থান দ্বিতীয় সর্বোচ্চ দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত দেশ। এই বাস্তবতা আমাদের সমাজে স্বচ্ছতা, জবাবদিহিতা এবং পারস্পরিক আস্থার গুরুত্ব নতুন করে ভাবার সুযোগ করে দেয়।
একটি ন্যায়ভিত্তিক, সমতাপূর্ণ ও শান্তিপূর্ণ সমাজ গঠনে দুর্নীতির প্রভাব শুধু অর্থনৈতিক ক্ষেত্রেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; এটি ন্যায়বিচার, সমান সুযোগ, জনআস্থা এবং সামাজিক সম্প্রীতিকেও প্রভাবিত করে।
এই বাস্তবতাকে সামনে রেখে সিরাক-বাংলাদেশ এর সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এবারের Peace Adda-এর উন্মুক্ত সংলাপে তরুণরা দুর্নীতির বিভিন্ন রূপ, এর প্রভাব এবং ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনে নিজেদের ভূমিকা নিয়ে মতামত ও অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় করেন।
আলোচনায় উঠে আসে, দুর্নীতি শুধু ঘুষ বা আর্থিক লেনদেনের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়। স্বাস্থ্য, শিক্ষা, নিয়োগ, প্রশাসনিক সেবা, স্বাস্থ্য সরঞ্জাম ক্রয়, ট্রাফিক ব্যবস্থা, পাসপোর্ট সেবা ও বিআরটিএসহ বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে বিদ্যমান পদ্ধতিগত অনিয়ম নাগরিক জীবনে প্রভাব ফেলছে।
একই সঙ্গে তরুণরা দুর্নীতির মূল কারণ, প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক দুর্বলতা এবং স্বচ্ছতা ও জবাবদিহিতার ঘাটতি নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। সেবাগ্রহীতা হিসেবে অধিকার সম্পর্কে সচেতন হওয়া, তথ্যভিত্তিক সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ, অনিয়মের বিরুদ্ধে দায়িত্বশীল অবস্থান নেওয়া এবং সামাজিকভাবে দুর্নীতিকে নিরুৎসাহিত করার ক্ষেত্রে তরুণদের ভূমিকার ওপরও গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়।
এই সংলাপ শুধু সমস্যাগুলো নিয়ে ভাবার নয়, বরং পরিবর্তনের অংশীদার হিসেবে তরুণদের দায়িত্ব ও সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে নতুনভাবে ভাবার একটি অর্থবহ সুযোগ তৈরি করেছে। সচেতনতা, দায়িত্বশীলতা এবং সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমেই একটি ন্যায়ভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠনে আমরা সবাই ভূমিকা রাখতে পারি।

Every year, people around the world become victims of enforced disappearance. When a person is arrested, detained, abducted, or otherwise deprived of their liberty, information about their fate or whereabouts is deliberately hidden from their family and the public.
In Bangladesh, this issue has affected thousands of families. The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances received 1,913 complaints, of which 1,569 were identified as cases meeting the definition of enforced disappearance. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story waiting for answers.
They may be missing, but they are not forgotten.
On this International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, let us stand together for truth, justice, dignity, and meaningful action. Every family has the right to know what happened to their loved ones, and every victim deserves to be remembered.
Because no one should vanish without a trace.

As highlighted by the United Nations, addressing the risks associated with AI requires greater cooperation and transparency, from its environmental impact and impact on children to the potential dangers of AI-enabled weapons.
