You know the temperature is getting cooler when your cats start forming a skin pile 😹

Had to share this cute pic of Thelma & Louise cuddling up with a few of the resident cats at BCSR HQ. The girls have really taken a liking to our werewolves (Lykoi) over the past couple of weeks and we catch the four of them snuggling together often.

The girl’s skin is still a bit of a work in progress. Now that they are spending so much time being close with the other cats they are producing more body heat, and sweating, which has caused a bit of a flareup. We are hoping with the added PJs and a couple more baths. Things will be back to normal soon.

Just realized it’s been a hot minute since we posted an update on our special boy Neji.

Neji is doing absolutely fantastic! He is happy to take his meds and his appetite is back to normal. We are even happy to report that he now loves the special prescription diet our Vet wanted him to eat that he was previously protesting.

We have had no more issues with his bowels and his weight is back where it needs to be!

Not only is Neji an expert bed cuddler but he is also very helpful. Unpacking groceries haha. As you can tell by this expression, he takes his work very seriously 😂

Love you so much Nej and can’t wait to start looking for your forever family soon.

A little Elle update. Even after one more day, her skin has improved substantially and she is still in fantastic spirits.

We heard back from Elle’s vet regarding her blood tests the only abnormality on her blood work is some inflammation, which we expected with her skin in this condition. Her dental estimate should be arriving soon and we will be raising funds to help with this as well.

All in all great news for Elle and we couldn’t be happier!

Miss Elle had her first appointment at Kent Veterinary Clinic this afternoon. She was the perfect little lady and spent most of her appointment purring and wanting pets.

Her skin has already started healing up after the combination of medicated baths last night and wearing a shirt to prevent her from licking. Currently she does not need oral antibiotics and our vet is confident her skin should heal nicely with these baths and continuing to make sure she does not lick herself.

As expected Elle does need a dental to take care of the ick that is in her mouth. We have sent off pre-anesthetic bloodwork to make sure she is going to be safe for anesthesia.

Fantastic news is her heart sounds great and no murmurs heard today!

Our gal does have a tattoo in her ear, however, the clinic that placed this tattoo is no longer open. The lovely team at our vet clinic is doing some detective work & making phone calls to try and see which clinic might have medical records from the one that closed, but as this tattoo is currently not traceable, Elle received a microchip today.

Elle also does need her vaccines boosted, however, we are holding off on this for now until her skin has healed. Once we receive the estimate for her dental we will share and we will update again once we have received Elle’s blood test results.

🦄💜 ~* Introducing Elle *~ 💜🦄

Help us give a warm welcome to the newest edition of the BCSR Elle who arrived into our care yesterday.

Elle is a local owner surrender. Last week we were contacted for help with this gorgeous gal after her elderly owner passed away. Unfortunately family members of Elle’s owner were not in a position to adopt her and we offered to have her join BCSR.

It is very evident that Elle is very much in need of some medical care and TLC. She has multiple open sores all over her body and a very foul odour admitting from her mouth. We are very thankful that we were able to squeeze in an urgent appointment with our medical team at Kent Veterinary Clinic and she will be seen by one of our amazing vets today.

We are likely looking at needing some extensive dental work performed for Elle as well as obvious treatment for her skin. To get our Gal back in tiptop shape is very likely going to be costly for the rescue. We will be posting another update this evening after her vet appointment once we have a better understanding of all of the next steps needed for Elle’s journey with us.
