💍 You’re invited to Matt and Masha’s wedding.
No, really.

Because First Métis Man of Odesa is based on the real lives of Matthew MacKenzie and Mariya Khomutova, you’re not just watching a play—you’re joining them on one of the most meaningful journeys of their lives.

We won’t spoil what happens next, but we will say this: before they could capture these beautiful wedding photos and build a family together, they had to navigate distance, a global pandemic, and life-changing events that tested everything they knew.

Come celebrate their love, laugh with them, cry with them, and experience a story that reminds us how powerful hope can be.

This fall, Calgary isn’t getting just one horror musical… we’re getting TWO🩸🌱

Which means it only felt right for Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects to exchange a few gifts before the chaos begins.

At Theatre Calgary, we’re welcoming Little Shop of Horrors, while our friends at ATP are getting ready for Evil Dead The Musical.

Two cult favourites. Two very different kinds of horror. And, apparently, a shared appreciation for buckets of blood.
Prepare yourself for a bumpy ride into Halloween as we bring the laughs, screams, killer plants, and plenty of splatter to Calgary stages.

Consider this your official warning: Calgary is about to get bloody.

Top 5 things to know before coming to First Métis Man of Odesa 👇

1️⃣ Plan a little extra travel time.
Construction around the Werklund Centre is ongoing, so we recommend arriving a bit earlier than usual.

2️⃣ No intermission.
The performance runs approximately 90 minutes, so grab your drinks and snacks before the show.

3️⃣ This is a true story.
Everything you’re about to see is based on the real lives of playwrights and performers Matthew MacKenzie and Mariya Khomutova, making every moment feel deeply personal.

4️⃣ Bring your tissues.
You’ll laugh, you’ll probably cry, and you’ll leave with plenty to think about.

5️⃣ The show includes the sound of air raid sirens.
As part of this true story, you’ll hear air raid sirens during the performance. We want you to know in advance so you can enjoy the show in the way that’s right for you.

Meet Trevor Watson — the technician who would very much prefer to stay behind the scenes.

His job in Peter Pan Goes Wrong should be simple: manage the technical side of the production and keep the show running. But as things start falling apart, Trevor gets pulled further and further into the action.

He may not be trying to steal the spotlight, but somehow, the spotlight keeps finding him.
