SAMAR began hosting last year not really sure if we would explore it past the first one, yet fast forward and we are now 2 events in and we have discovered that we want to offer educational and skill building opportunities for dancers in and around Calgary. Knowledge gets to be shared among the whole community and we love that wee can learn together, challenge ourselves, and continue raising the level of our art.

We are absolutely thrilled to be showcasing amazing live Arabic music with our talented band, and having stunning raqs sharqi performances alongside them - improvised in that moment. A beautiful chance to see how music and dance connects not only the musician and dancer, but the audience as well.

Join us this August for an amazing weekend filled with learning, dance instruction, performances, and of course- a live Arab music concert featuring local musicians and guests. Workshops allow us to offer education around dance technique, musicality, and context around this dance that so many of us have come to love.
