Stampede season can bring more than crowds, concerts and celebrations.
For many Calgarians, this time of year can also intensify relationship conflict, substance use, financial stress, social anxiety, loneliness and other mental health concerns.
As people begin looking for support, therapists need a clear and visible online presence that helps potential clients understand:
• Who you support
• What concerns you work with
• Where services are available
• How to take the next step
Haws Communications helps therapists strengthen their visibility through ethical advertising, Google Ads, search engine optimization, website content and digital communications.
Make sure people searching for support during Stampede season can find your practice when they need it.

If you want to attract more therapy clients during the summer, start by updating your Google Business Profile.
Summer can be a slower season for therapists, but people are still searching for counselling, psychology, and therapy services near them. The question is whether your practice is easy to find and easy to understand when they search.
Your Google Business Profile is often one of the first places potential clients see your practice. Before they visit your website, they may look at your location, services, hours, photos, contact information, and booking link directly on Google or Google Maps.
Your profile should clearly answer:
Who do you help?
What services do you offer?
Where are you located?
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Are you accepting new clients?
How can someone book?
A strong profile includes accurate service categories, updated business hours, a clear description, current photos, a working website link, and service descriptions that match what people are actually searching for.
For potential clients who already feel overwhelmed, clarity matters. They should not have to guess whether you work with their concern, serve their area, or have availability. The easier you make that first step, the more likely they are to reach out.
If summer is slower, use that time to strengthen your Google Business Profile before September search traffic picks up.
Haws Communications helps therapists and mental health professionals improve their local SEO, Google Business Profiles, and digital presence so more of the right clients can find them.

Happy Canada Day from Haws Communications.
Today is a chance to reflect on the communities we are part of, the work we do, and the responsibility we have to communicate with care.
For mental health professionals, communication is more than marketing. It is how people understand where to find support, what help is available, and whether they feel safe enough to take the next step.
As we mark Canada Day, we are thinking about the importance of ethical, inclusive, and accessible communication across every practice, clinic, and community.
Whether you are spending the day resting, reconnecting, reflecting, or celebrating, we hope it brings you a moment of clarity and connection.

Most therapy clients begin their search for support on Google.
They may be looking for a therapist nearby, a specific type of counselling, or someone who understands what they are navigating. If your website is unclear, hard to find, or missing key service information, those searches can lead them somewhere else.
Our latest blog breaks down how SEO helps therapists strengthen their online visibility in a clear, ethical, and practical way.
You’ll learn how to improve your website structure, create stronger service pages, support local search, optimize your Google Business Profile, and build helpful content that makes your practice easier to find.
For therapists, SEO works best when it is grounded in clarity, trust, and client-centred communication.

This summer, make your website easier for potential clients to understand, trust, and act on.
Here are three simple updates that can help improve inquiries for your therapy practice:
1. Clarify your headline
Your homepage should quickly explain who you help, what you offer, and how clients can take the next step.
2. Simplify your booking flow
The fewer steps someone has to take to reach out, the easier it is for them to follow through.
3. Build trust before the first session
Clear credentials, ethical language, service descriptions, and a warm, professional website experience can help reduce hesitation.
At Haws Communications, we help therapists and mental health professionals create clearer, more client-centred websites that support ethical practice growth.

June is National Indigenous Peoples Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
It's also an opportunity for mental health professionals to learn about programs that help make counselling more accessible.
The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program is a federal program that provides coverage for eligible First Nations and Inuit individuals, including access to mental health counselling services.
For therapists, becoming an NIHB provider can:
✔ Reduce financial barriers to care
✔ Expand access to Indigenous clients in your community
✔ Support culturally responsive mental health services
✔ Increase visibility among clients actively seeking NIHB-approved providers
Interested in becoming an NIHB provider?
Generally, you'll need:
• Active registration with your professional regulatory body
• Professional liability insurance
• Completion of the NIHB provider application process
• Approval from NIHB to bill for eligible services
Many therapists are already qualified and simply haven't completed the registration process.
Once approved, make sure your:
• Website
• Google Business Profile
• Psychology Today profile
• Social media profiles
clearly indicate that you accept NIHB clients.
If people can't find that information online, they may never know your services are available to them.
At Haws Communications, we help mental health professionals improve their digital visibility so the people who need their services can find them.

Mental Health Awareness Month is almost over. Your clients' search for support isn't.
Every day, people search online for help with anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, grief, and countless other concerns.
The challenge is that many excellent therapists remain difficult to find.
An outdated website, an incomplete Google Business Profile, inconsistent online information, or a lack of clear service descriptions can create barriers between people seeking support and the professionals who can help them.
Mental Health Awareness Month helps start important conversations. The next step is ensuring people can actually access care when they're ready to reach out.
For mental health professionals, visibility isn't about marketing for the sake of marketing. It's about reducing obstacles to care and helping the right clients find the right support at the right time.
As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, it's worth asking:
Can someone who needs your services easily find you online?
AI search is changing faster than most people realize.
ChatGPT has officially begun beta testing its Ads Manager, and this could become one of the biggest shifts in digital marketing since Google Ads launched.
That means lower ad costs, more visibility opportunities, and a chance for early adopters to establish authority before the market becomes saturated.
The practices that adapt early will likely have the biggest long-term advantage.
If you want help preparing your practice for the future of AI search and digital visibility, visit hawscommunications.com.

Google just made its biggest search update in 25 years.
The traditional search bar is being replaced by an AI-powered experience built for conversational questions.
Instead of searching:
“Calgary therapist”
People are now searching:
“I need an EMDR therapist in Calgary for PTSD who offers evening virtual sessions.”
This changes everything for SEO and therapist marketing.
We’re entering a “zero-click” era where Google’s AI answers questions directly in search results, often before someone ever visits a website.
That means trust signals matter more than ever.
Google is prioritizing practices with:
• Strong Google profiles
• Verified reviews
• Consistent online branding
• Niche expertise
• Helpful content across platforms
In many cases, AI will build a shortlist of therapists before a client even opens Psychology Today.
SEO is no longer just about ranking higher.
It’s about becoming the trusted answer AI recommends.
At Haws Communications, I help mental health professionals adapt to the future of digital marketing through:
• SEO optimization
• Website strategy
• Content planning
• AI-ready communications
The search landscape is changing quickly.
Your strategy should, too.
