🚧 Construction is expected to begin in the coming days, starting with water utility upgrades between 14 Street SW and 18 Street SW. To reduce impacts, the project has been divided into east and west segments on either side of Crowchild Trail, each with its own construction phases. Phase 1 of the west segment (25 St SW to 26 St SW) begins this month, while Phase 1 of the east segment (14 St SW to 16 St SW) will begin once utility work is complete.
For more information about the project, including timelines on future phases and maps, visit: calgary.ca/26ave
While the project plans were already well underway before our office began, we have heard concerns about parking removal and questions about the bike lane design, including their impacts on residents and businesses along the corridor. We are continuing conversations about both the inconvenience these changes may cause and the traffic safety improvements the project aims to achieve.
Please reach out to our office anytime at [email protected] with your questions and we will continue to provide updates as they are available.

Feedback needed! 🚧
There’s still time to have your say on proposed improvements to Glenmore Trail between Richard Road and 14 St SW. To improve safety, traffic flow, pathway connections, and support future growth, The City is conducting a planning study for this important corridor.

Today was packed with Stampede events in Ward 8 🤠
We kicked things off at CJCA - Calgary Japanese Community Association with MLA Janet Eremenko, stopped by the 14th St Block Party, volunteered at the Bankview Community Association BBQ, and took the #6 bus to wrap up the day at the Killarney-Glengarry Community Association Stampede Market and Killarney Legion 289 BBQ.
Getting out into the community is one of the best parts of the job - it’s a chance to meet Ward 8 residents, hear what’s on their minds, and stay connected.

Today the Province's decision to close Sheldon Chumir Safe Consumption Site takes effect and it will cease operating.
I recognize the strain this caused to residents and businesses and now we must ensure we manage what's next.
The site is closing, but the people who used it are not leaving. That's why we need a plan and continued collaboration with the Province.
The issue is complex and so is the conversation. Visit the Ward 8 website to read about what we've heard and we're doing.

Tomorrow is Canada Day and there are lots of events downtown to check out! This year’s free and family-friendly celebration features an Indigenous spotlight and powwow, live music and will end with a fireworks show above Stampede Park.
Other attractions throughout the day include the Cultural Carousel, performances, face painting, food trucks and more. I will be at Prince’s Island Park with my family!
Canada Day will end with a fireworks show at approximately 11 p.m. launched from Stampede Park. Because of closures on site for Stampede setup, the best viewing location for the fireworks is Max Bell Centre, parking is limited. Access to Scotsman’s Hill will also be restricted.
Visit calgary.ca/CanadaDay to check out the event schedule and interactive map to help you explore all the exciting performances and activities.

Today, I was at the reopening of Pumphouse Park in Sunalta. Calgary Parks has done an amazing job revitalizing the space - new pathways, picnic areas, swings, and beautiful riverfront views, all while honouring the site’s history. 🌳
It’s also bittersweet saying goodbye to Kyle Ripley as he retires this week - thank you Kyle for your dedication as the Parks director.
Make sure to check it out (it’s already a favourite stop on my bike ride to work 🚴♂️)
