Well… this wasn’t exactly on the DTM schedule. 😅💙
Things have taken an unexpected turn, and we’ve reached the point where continuing to wait for a surgical appointment isn’t really an option anymore. So tomorrow, we’re heading to the hospital.
We haven’t shared everything that’s been going on behind the scenes yet, and we’ll tell you more when we’re ready. For now, we mostly wanted you guys to know we’re still here and DTM RC Lab isn’t going anywhere.
We might just be a little quieter while real life takes priority.
Tonight we’re packing with the possibility that this could turn into more than a one-night stay—which brings us to you guys:
If you knew you might be in the hospital for a few days, what is the ONE thing you’d absolutely make sure was in your bag?
Because we know we’re going to forget something. 😂
We weren’t always like this. 💙
Before DTM RC Lab, before our bedroom became our workshop, before tiny 4x4s took over every available inch of space 😂… our lives looked very different.
We were the couple taking our kids 4x4ing, getting muddy, hiking, exploring and always finding somewhere to go.
Then life changed physically for both of us.
Pat’s back injury changed his mobility. Arthritis slowly changed what Sara’s body could do. The adventures we once took for granted became things we could no longer do the same way.
But we were still us.
We still loved 4x4s. We still loved tackling obstacles. We still needed something to build, laugh about, learn together and look forward to.
So our 4x4s got a little smaller. 😂💙
And eventually, DTM RC Lab was born.
We’re going to start sharing more of our story with you—not instead of the RCs, but alongside them. Because there are two people behind these tiny trucks, and this Lab has become a pretty big part of our lives.
This is only the beginning.

Bobby got a new body… and Sam got the lights. 😂💜
We did a little swapping around in the Lab! Bobby got a whole new look with the LC79 body, and the purple angel eye lights we originally hoped to use with him found the perfect home on Sam instead.
Turns out those angel eyes are made for the Jeep-style front end… and honestly, we’re not mad about it. 😍💜 They look WAY too good on Sam.
Both the LC79 body and angel eye lights were sent to us by Hobby Details to build, install and have some fun with — and that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. 🛠️
Now we need to know…
Which one wins this round: Bobby’s new LC79 look 🛻 or Sam’s purple angel eyes? 💜

Bobby and Sam were both out on the Proving Grounds, and apparently trail etiquette doesn’t apply when you’re only 1/30 scale.
One minute Bobby’s taking the line, the next Sam’s coming through, and then Bobby is right back at it. 🔥
Honestly, having two SCX30s on the course at once might be even more fun.
