George Fox

George Fox is a member of the Canadian Country Music Association Hall of Fame. A rancher hailing from Cochrane, Alberta—George began his music career while living on the family farm. In 1988 he recorded an album that found its way into the hands of a Warner Music Canada representative. He signed with the label, and “Angelina” was released to critical acclaim, securing him a top-ten debut—George watched his career take off. The album went gold and landed him four top 20 Canadian country hits and the CCMA Award title of Vista Rising Star (1989). As important as the gold record was George catching the eye and ear of Anne Murray’s legendary manager Leonard T. With a dream team in place, George began taking the new decade by storm. His 1990 release “With All My Might” became George’s second gold album, and he starred in his first TV special for CBC, “George Fox’s New Country.”
The hits kept coming. “Spice of Life” in 1991, and the gold-certified albums “Mustang Heart” (1993) and “Time of My Life” (1995). Releasing music at a prolific pace, singles like "No Trespassing", "I Give You My Word", “Honest Man”, “Clearly Canadian” and "Breakfast Alone" became mainstays on country stations worldwide. George not only dominated radio waves in the 90’s, but also launched into television. In an era where variety music programming was an incredible career booster, George was literally all over the dial. While his four television specials attracted millions of viewers, he also guest-stared on numerous shows and specials, and notably hosted the CCMA awards show consecutively from 1991-1994. Within a decade he had released 8 albums, boasting 17 Top Ten singles and his two number one hits, “First Comes Love” and “What’s Holding Me.” Along the way he won 3 Junos for Country Male Vocalist of the Year (1989,1990,1991) and another 3 CCMA Awards as Male Vocalist of the Year (1990,1991,1993.) Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Calgary and Area Entertainer of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year. Fox has released 11 albums, five of which reached gold status, hosted the CCMA Awards for four consecutive years (1991-1994) and appeared in countless television specials alongside celebrated artists such as Terri Clark, Rita McNeil, Anne Murray, Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. He is a bon-a-fide Canadian country music star, who lives on an expansive acreage/farm in southern Ontario with his wife and two daughters. George continues to perform selectively through-out Canada. In 1995 George was honoured by his hometown of Cochrane, Alberta when a local roadway was renamed “George Fox Trail”. His induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame came in 2022.
