POV: When the recall with a whole pack of dogs is absolutely on point 😏
I am literally a ✨️God✨️ at this point, convince me otherwise. I'll wait 😎
The power has officially gone to my head. 😂
casually recalls an entire pack like I’m summoning my disciples
What it feels like having 2 high drive feral crackheads in one home 🫠 🥴
Why Is a Good Recall So Important?
Because “he usually comes back” isn’t the same as a reliable recall.
A solid recall can be the difference between:
▪︎ Your dog coming back instead of chasing wildlife
▪︎ Getting your dog away from a road or dangerous situation
▪︎ Avoiding an unwanted dog-to-dog interaction
▪︎ Ending a game of “catch me if you can”
❤️ And, most importantly, getting your dog back safely when it really matters.
Recall isn't just a party trick you practice in the backyard. It’s a *safety* skill that needs to hold up around distractions, excitement, distance, and real-world environments.
And no — your dog doesn't need to come running back perfectly every single time.
They need to understand that when you call, coming back to you is always worth it and not optional.

When you're just a feral little chaotic girldog needing a place to crash for the weekend and the obvious best choice is the queen of chaos and feral. We vibe.
Remember Luna? This little lady was super skittish with people and dogs and was reactive from a young age. She needed an obedience foundation and we incorporated ecollar training into her Board & Train program. Her family chose to keep Luna coming for weekly pack walks following her Board & Train and Luna is a great example of the value of our training programs 🖤

"Death before discomfort"
Read that again.
Too often, people are told that any form of discomfort is unethical— We've reached a point where many people believe that any amount of discomfort is unacceptable—even when the alternative is a lifetime of fear, chronic stress, severe behavioral deterioration, medicating into oblivion, surrender to a shelter, or euthanasia.
No one should seek to make a dog uncomfortable. But temporary, fair, and well-timed discomfort can be part of clear communication and meaningful behavior change when used ethically and skillfully.
Training isn't about avoiding every unpleasant moment. It's about giving dogs the skills, structure, and accountability they need to safely navigate the world.
The goal isn't comfort at all costs.
The goal is a better quality of life.
What are your thoughts?

Every dog is different. We don't train on a 'one size fits all' program.
Even with excellent recall training, some dogs have strong genetic drives that can outweigh their desire to listen in certain moments. No amount of cookies can override a dog's genetics. The instinct to chase wildlife or fast-moving objects can be incredibly powerful.
For many dogs, a solid recall foundation is all they need. For others, adding an e-collar provides the extra layer of communication and accountability needed to achieve the level of reliability most owners are looking for.
An e-collar is not a shortcut or a punishment - it's a communication tool. When introduced fairly and conditioned properly, it allows you to communicate with your dog at a distance, creating clarity, consistency, and confidence.
Not only can this course help you build an incredibly reliable recall, but it also teaches you how to use the e-collar in a variety of everyday situations. From reinforcing known behaviours to improving off-leash reliability and maintaining communication in high-distraction environments, the possibilities extend far beyond just "come."
If you're ready to take your dog's training to the next level and enjoy more freedom with confidence, this course is for you.

When you got your dog, what was your vision? I know mine was always to live that Kootenay lifestyle.
Hiking trails, camping weekends, lake days, and mountain adventures are even better when your dog has the freedom to explore safely. But off-leash privileges aren't a right—they're earned through a reliable recall.
Recall is about so much more than just coming when called. It's about safety, connection, and freedom. It's the peace of mind that your dog will choose you over the squirrel, the deer, or the oncoming dog. It's building a relationship that's stronger than distractions.
Join us for our 4-week Recall Class and learn how to create a reliable recall through clear communication, motivation, and real-world training.

Give your dog the opportunity to learn while living in a real home. Our Board & Train Program is designed to create lasting results through structure, consistency, and repetition. Your dog stays in our home as part of the family, receiving individualized training throughout the day in real-world environments—not just during scheduled sessions.
We limit our program to 1–2 dogs at a time, allowing us to tailor every aspect of training to your dog's personality, learning style, and your goals. Our focus is on quality, not quantity.
Whether you're looking for better manners, reliable off-leash freedom, improved leash skills, confidence building, or help with behavioural challenges, we'll create a customized program that sets both you and your dog up for success.
✨ Every Board & Train includes:
✔️ Sun up to sun down structured training
✔️ 2–3 focused training sessions each day
✔️ Real-world field trips and exposure training
✔️ Regular video updates of your dog's progress ✔️ Owner transfer sessions and follow-up support
An added bonus? If you have a vacation, work trip, or family event coming up, why not have your dog learning while you're away? Instead of simply boarding your dog, imagine coming home to a calmer, more confident, better-trained companion. It's a productive use of time for both you and your dog—and a true win-win.
At Balanced K9, we don't just train dogs—we build relationships, create clarity, and give owners the skills to maintain those results long after their dog comes home.
