Sharing this on behalf of The Fire in Our Hearts

The feature documentary The Fire in Our Hearts will be screening at Columbia Theatre in Cranbrook on October 25 and 28.

Sunday, October 25: 4 pm
Wednesday, October 28: 6:30 pm

From the director:

The film tells the true story of the 2018 wildfires around Francois Lake in northern B.C. and how local residents worked alongside members of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation to protect their communities when fires threatened the region.

The film is about community, connection to the land, resilience, and what can happen when Indigenous and non-Indigenous neighbours work together during a crisis.

It has since received several international awards and nominations and is now beginning its Canadian theatrical release.

Events Update - Truth and Reconciliation Day

Due to a recent loss in the community, the planned ʔAkisq̓nuk event on September 30th will be cancelled.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding as plans change, and we hope everyone finds the right opportunity to honour the children, Survivors, families, and communities impacted by residential schools.
