On the night of September 3, 1996, firefighters responded to a house fire near the Turner Valley Golf Club in Turner Valley, Alberta. Inside the home, they discovered the bodies of 36-year-old Jane Johnson and her eight-year-old daughter, Cathryn.

What initially appeared to be a fatal fire quickly became a homicide investigation.

An autopsy later confirmed that Jane had been stabbed to death. The cause of death for Cathryn has never been publicly released. Investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set in an effort to destroy evidence.

RCMP believe the individual or individuals responsible were likely known to the victims. Jane and Cathryn did not consistently stay at the Turner Valley residence and often spent time elsewhere, leading investigators to believe their movements and routines were familiar to the perpetrator.

Over the years, multiple individuals have been examined in connection to the case. Jane’s ex-husband was investigated early on but was later eliminated. He voluntarily offered to take a polygraph early into the investigation and maintains his innocence, fighting for justice for his daughter and ex-wife. A second individual, who was known to Jane at the time, remains a person of interest.

Despite extensive investigative efforts, including thousands of hours of work, numerous interviews, and the collection of physical evidence, no charges have ever been laid.

Investigators have indicated they have a strong understanding of what may have happened, but are missing key pieces of evidence required to proceed.

William "Bill" Allen Leslie was last seen in the Beaverlodge, Alberta area in September 1993. He was 31 years old at the time.

Bill had been living in a tent in a remote, wooded area southeast of Beaverlodge. Months later, after snow had accumulated, his campsite was discovered abandoned. His belongings, along with his truck and bicycle, were found buried beneath two to three feet of snow. A jean jacket and a leather jacket were still inside the truck.

Despite the discovery of his campsite and personal property, there was no sign of Bill.

No one, including his family, has seen or heard from him since.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear. Investigators have never publicly explained why Bill vanished or what may have happened after he was last seen in the fall of 1993.

Bill was described as having blue eyes, shoulder-length brown hair that was short on top and longer in the back, and a ruddy complexion. He stood approximately 5'11" tall and weighed around 187 pounds.

He also had several distinctive tattoos, including "Live Your Own Life" in a ribbon on his left arm, and "Born to Be Bad" and "Mom Dad" on his right arm. Friends and family also knew him by the nicknames Bill and "Wild W***y."
