09/18/2026

We're pleased to announce Martin Long as our candidate in West Yellowhead for the next election.

As Minister of Infrastructure, Martin is getting things built, from the new schools going up to the recovery communities helping Albertans turn their lives around.

Prior to his election in 2019, he was an operator at the the pulp and paper mill in Whitecourt and is a Class III power engineer.

We're glad to have him on our team getting the job done for Albertans.

Great to join local MLA and Minister, Nathan Neudorf, and the Lethbridge Construction Association for a luncheon and discussion on the future of building in Southern Alberta. Minister Neudorf has been a constant advocate for the construction sector in Lethbridge and the surrounding area. We spoke about upcoming opportunities, the impacts of tariffs on the industry, and how government and industry can work together as stronger partners moving forward.

It was a pleasure speaking at the Building Trades of Alberta Conference yesterday in Jasper.

Alberta’s skilled trades workers help build our communities, strengthen our economy, and create opportunities for families. Our government is proud to support the next generation of trades professionals through millions of dollars in investment to train and develop them. Additionally, through Budget 2026 we are investing in more than $28 billion in capital infrastructure over the next 3 years which is creating tens of thousands of jobs for skilled trades workers.

To wrap up my summer tour of Northern Alberta, MLA Yao and I visited Fort Chipewyan to better understand the infrastructure needs of remote communities. We toured the provincial dock site, met with local leaders, toured the Athabasca Delta Community School, Ayabaskaw Seniors Home, and the Fort Chipewyan Bicentennial Museum. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives and make us feel so welcome.

Twenty-five years ago today, the world watched in horror as two hijacked planes struck the Twin Towers in New York City, forever changing the course of history.

For many of us, it felt as though time stood still as the devastating terrorist attacks unfolded in real time.

Nearly 3,000 innocent people, including 24 Canadians, were killed that day.

To our American neighbours, we remember the bravery and sacrifice of the first responders, and we stand with you in honouring the victims, survivors, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

While in Fort McMurray, I toured the Oil Sands Discovery Centre with MLA Tany Yao. It’s a place that has helped educate Albertans and visitors from around the world about the history, innovation, and resourcefulness behind Alberta’s oil sands industry. The centre showcases how the region’s “black gold” is extracted and the important role it plays in our province’s economy.

Alberta’s roots have long been shaped by Ukrainian culture and heritage. Drive through any town or city and you’ll find community halls, churches, farms, businesses, and festivals that exist because of Ukrainian families who chose to call Alberta, and Canada, home.

Today, we celebrate those families and thank them for all they’ve contributed to making our province the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Happy Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Day!

Thank you to the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce for the thoughtful discussion on the opportunities driving the region forward and the infrastructure priorities that matter to the local businesses and residents.

With school starting this week across the province I wanted to showcase Evanston Heights School. This brand new $43 million dollar school was completed in time for students to begin using it for their first day of school.
