Frontiers Design/Build
Frontiers is a full service design and build company based in Guelph Ontario; providing both landscape and interior renovation services
Frontiers Design Build:
Frontiers Landscape Architecture Inc: Provides clients with a professional approach -- Integrating strong design into the landscaping process. The design phase is seamlessly integrated with our sound construction services. Landscapes see an immense amount of abuse from mother nature -- it is critical that we determine not only what will look good, but how it will function to withstand the sun, the rain, freeze/thaw, use and abuse, etc. There are many solutions available out there that are just not good enough -- it is our role to bring expertise to the table, to help the home owner find a solution that is economical, durable and aesthetic. Frontiers Custom Renovations & Homes: Attention to detail, Attention to detail, Attention to detail. Every project we set out to complete is unique, and require a custom solution. The design process is a partnership between the home owner, and Frontiers -- the home owner brings the requirements and scope, and Frontiers brings the brush to paint the picture and the expertise to ensure the solution is sound.

The new standard of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
Unlike a standalone custom build, an ADU requires navigating an active residential site, tight property boundaries, and existing infrastructure. At Frontiers, we apply the full rigor of building science to every layer of assembly - long before the first shovel.
Our high-performance approach ensures:
▪ The Thermal Enclosure: A continuous, high-R-value envelope that makes the dwelling silent, energy-efficient, and immune to outdoor temperature swings.
▪ Indoor Air Quality: Airtight construction and continuous mechanical ventilation provide fresh, filtered air, prioritizing the health and comfort of occupants.
▪ Moisture Management: Detailing every layer, interface, and foundation transition to ensure the structure remains dry and durable through Southern Ontario's harsh weather.
▪ Energy Independence: Designing to a high-performance framework that delivers exceptional operational efficiency and low utility costs from day one.
We treat your investment with a deep sense of stewardship, seamlessly connecting the ADU with your main residence and the surrounding ecosystem.
Reach out to see what an ADU would look like on your property, and the value it would bring. 👊

Out with the old, prepping for the new! Breaking Ground at 221 Arthur St N: 💥
Demolition and excavation are officially in full swing at 221 Arthur Street North! Watch the aerial footage as our team clears the site, takes down the existing structure, digs deep, and installs shoring to pave the way for a state-of-the-art, high-performance net-zero ready custom build.
Building a high-efficiency home starts long before the framing goes up. To set the stage for the high-performance wall assemblies and building envelope, precision site preparation is everything.
Key Milestones Underway:
◾Structural Demolition & Site Prep: Safely clearing the old footprint and establishing a clean staging area.
◾Deep Excavation & Shoring: Digging out for 11-foot foundation walls to yield a spacious 9-foot clear finished basement ceiling.
◾Foundation Prep: Setting up for concrete footings and our custom reverse-ledge foundation design.
Shoutout to our pre-construction management, engineering partners, and site crews for executing a seamless kickoff! Follow along as we take this project from ground zero to a fully modern, sustainable residence.

Welcome to Waterloo Series | Pt. 5 👇
"What was the biggest technical or logistical mountain this team had to climb to meet the strict requirements on Waterloo, and how did you solve it?"
👉 We achieved a 0.57ACH (air changes per hour), where a typical newly built home in North America will be betwen 3 and 5ACH. So, we sort of built a house with a house in the way, meaning there was a lot more effort needed to hit that level of ex*****on. We have a really good team that knows what to look for, so we can plan for it and have the trade partners who can execute it.

Our guy, Doug, is going to be a guest speaker on the 's upcoming webinar: "Resiliency That Pays Off: Building Better Against Basement Flooding."
Date: September 15, 2026
Time" 11:00am - 12:00pm
Registration: on Enerquality's website.
In this webinar, they'll explore practical ways builders, renovators and designers can translate the ICLR Resilience Checklist into effective, repeatable field practices.
Key takeaways will include:
▪️ Simple, cost-effective resilience measures
▪️ Better drainage, grading & water management
▪️ Continuous water, air, vapour & thermal control layers
▪️ Redundancy and backup strategies
▪️ Designing for comfort, durability and resilience
The big takeaway? Resilience doesn’t always have to mean adding complexity. Done well, better building science can make homes more comfortable, durable and resilient at the same time.

Welcome to Waterloo Series | Pt. 4 👇
"This build required strict compliance in tight spaces. How did your pre-construction framework engineer the friction out before the boots hit the ground?"
👉 Bringing the builder to the table early on is what allows us to spend the time we need to detect issues while it's on paper, as opposed to when construction happens; which is typically how things are done in the industry.
