Our foster kitty, Crouton, got out today in the Edinburgh Rd. South area in Guelph. He is unchipped and unneutered as he was due for his vetting appointment this week. Please don’t chase him. Please check under your deck, in sheds, and around your gardens. He was recently a stray so is confident outdoors and we hope to find him in the area. When we first found out about Twitch, we knew something was very wrong.
She was unable to walk properly, repeatedly falling over, suffering from facial spasms, severely dehydrated and malnourished, with bloody saliva coming from her mouth. We quickly got her to safety, but as the video shows, there was still so much we didn’t know.
As Twitch began settling into care, one possibility became clear. She had recently been nursing kittens.
We immediately asked the community for help and began searching the area where she was found. A home security camera was set up, traps were placed, and we waited, hoping that somewhere nearby, her babies were still safe.
And they were.
Twitch’s kittens - Wiggle and Jiggle - have now been brought to safety. Seeing these little faces after everything their mom had been through was an enormous relief.
Twitch is still undergoing assessment and receiving the care she needs as we continue to investigate what caused the symptoms she was experiencing. We are taking things one day at a time with her, but she no longer has to struggle alone, and neither do her babies.
Her story is also an important reminder of why spaying, neutering and TNR programs matter. Cat overpopulation is a community issue, and it takes accessible resources, education, compassion and people willing to help to make a difference.
By supporting spay and neuter programs and TNR efforts, we can help prevent more kittens from being born outside and struggling to survive.
For now, we are just incredibly grateful that Twitch was found when she was, and that her babies were found too.

Camping with Cheddar!
Our little adventurer is doing amazing! Despite his cleft palate, Cheddar continues to explore, travel, and enjoy every adventure that comes his way.
We’re so happy to see him thriving and living such a full, happy life. Stories like Cheddar’s are possible because of the incredible support we receive from our community.

ARTHUR RESIDENTS — WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP.
Just now, a young cat named Twitch was found in the residential area of Waters Way in Arthur, underneath a local resident’s car and in distress.
She was unable to walk and kept falling over and was suffering from facial spasms, severe dehydration and malnutrition with bloody saliva leaking from her mouth.
One of our volunteers immediately jumped into action, driving nearly an hour to get Twitch to safety. She was quickly assessed and brought to our Vet Director’s home, where she could be closely monitored while we immediately contacted our veterinary team.
Upon examining her, we noticed that Twitch has large, full mammary glands, strongly indicating that she is actively nursing kittens.
Twitch has now received pain management under our veterinarian’s guidance and is currently comfortable and stable for the time being.
But now, we are deeply concerned that there are newborn kittens somewhere in Arthur who desperately need their mother.
The immediate area where Twitch was found has been searched, but unfortunately, we have had no luck finding them. Because Twitch was likely traveling to hunt and find food for herself, her kittens could potentially be several blocks away from Waters Way.
If you live in or around the Waters Way area, please check everywhere. Look inside sheds, underneath decks and porches, around gardens and bushes, under outdoor structures and anywhere a mother cat may have hidden newborn kittens. Please also take a moment to stop and listen for tiny cries.
If you see or hear kittens, please do not wait. Contact us immediately at [email protected] so we can get to them as quickly as possible and hopefully reunite them with their mama.
Please share this with anyone in Arthur. Somewhere, there may be tiny babies waiting for Twitch — and we need the community’s help to find them.

Arthur Animal Rescue is looking for new volunteers to join our admin team!
We currently have openings for a Vet Admin Scheduler, TNR Admin, and Satellite Coordinator. These flexible volunteer roles are a great way to make a difference behind the scenes and help keep our rescue running smoothly.

Anyone who has followed us for a while knows our main man, the mascot of the rescue, and an absolute fighter — Duncan.
Duncan came to us at just five weeks old alongside his siblings from a horrifying backyard breeding situation. The Hyland Lynx siblings were all incredibly sick with severe upper respiratory infections, but Duncan was also facing an additional challenge.
Duncan was born with Manx syndrome, a condition similar to spina bifida in humans. His spine is incomplete and did not form properly, resulting in him having no tail and facing several physical challenges. Duncan has some mobility issues and is completely unable to control his bowels or bladder.
This is a known genetic condition associated with this breed and, in the minds of those of us who work in rescue, is one more reason why these cats should NEVER be bred in the first place.
Despite everything he has faced, Duncan has overcome more obstacles in the two and a half years he has been in our care than we can count. Through it all, he has remained one of the happiest cats you could ever meet.
Duncan has welcomed hundreds of sick, injured, and scared foster cats through the doors of his foster home. He is kind, gentle, and happiest when curled up beside someone he loves. He will cuddle for hours with just about anyone lucky enough to be his friend.
Recently, Duncan gained access to a cat-friendly backyard and he has been absolutely loving his supervised outdoor time. Not only has it been wonderful for his mental health, but it has also been an exciting development for his mobility. Exploring, climbing, and moving around outdoors has helped him gain and maintain muscle in a way we haven’t seen in quite some time.
We are so incredibly blessed to have this sweet boy in our lives. Duncan may have started his life with more challenges than any kitten should have to face, but he has never let them stop him from living, loving, and being the happiest version of himself.
We will continue to give Duncan the happiest, healthiest life possible in his forever foster home. After everything he has overcome, it’s the very least our favourite little fighter deserves. 💕

This weekend - yes, BOTH days - our lovely and longtime foster, Donna is hosting her annual Garage Sale in support of Arthur Animal Rescue.
You can find her, some of our other volunteers, and SO MANY great items for sale. Every cent you spend goes directly to the vet care of the more than 105 cats and kittens currently in our care.
This year has been the hardest on records in regards to the number of sick cats we’ve taken on, and our veterinary bills are reflecting it. To help us and the kitties of AAR come on out to 315 Albert St. Mount Forest this weekend from 8am-3pm.
