Today I want to turn the spotlight on the creative eye behind most of the captivating images you come across here.

Being a baker (aka Alex) that is married to a photographer (aka Niv) comes with lots of perks.
But other than taking beautiful pictures of delicious pastries Niv is also the talented force behind .studio. While his primary focus is portrait photography, Niv has nurtured a deep connection with the world of food and hospitality from his early days working in restaurants.

When we immigrated to Canada a decade ago, Niv seamlessly blended his love for food and his photographic skills, working in restaurants while growing his photography business. His lens first captured my baking adventures during my days at George Brown College, and our creative partnership continues to flourish.

There are three more weekends before we close. We hope we get a chance to see all your lovely faces and say goodbye in person whether it's in the bakeshop or at the market.

Farewell Kitchen Island

With a bittersweet mix of emotions, we announce the closure of Kitchen Island.

On August 19th, my team and I will be baking our last trays of flaky baked goods and welcoming you for the last time into our cherished space.

It has been an incredible chapter in my life, filled with joy, hard work, unforgettable memories and priceless connections. However, like every journey, there comes a time to bring it to a close. This decision hasn't been an easy one, as it's accompanied by multiple reasons, but I strongly believe it's the right time and the right path for me.

As we bid farewell to Kitchen Island, I want you to know that it's not the end of my creativity or my passion for food. The magic of these two elements will continue to flourish in my future endeavours.

UNTIL THEN, I extend my heartfelt invitation to each of you to savour every bite we serve and join us in celebrating life's precious moments.

has the best raspberries we have ever tasted and you can hand-pick them your self (only 25 minutes from downtown Hamilton) like we did today or buy them at on Saturday.
