It’s Time to Pass the Torch! ❤️

After six wonderful years of running our group, organizing events, and creating opportunities for meetups and connection, I feel it’s time for me to take a step back.

I absolutely love our disability community and am so grateful for all the incredible people I’ve had the opportunity to meet, connect with, and build relationships with over the years. This group has brought so much meaning to my life, and I’m thankful to have been a part of it.

With that being said, I’m ready to take a break, take a breath, and make space for another amazing human to step in and take the reins! ❤️

Would you be interested in running the group? If you’d love to get involved, help organize events, and continue building a supportive and inclusive community, please send me a message or comment below, and I’ll reach out.

Thank you for being part of this community and for making the last six years so special.

With love,

Cynthia ❤️

As a new school year begins, there's a renewed opportunity to strengthen inclusive child care in BC.

The provincial government is expanding access to child care on school grounds, and it's essential that the experiences and needs of children with disabilities are part of the conversation from the start.

That's why Inclusion BC and BC Complex Kids have sent a letter to trustees and superintendents in all 60 school districts across the province, calling for truly inclusive child care spaces where every child can belong and thrive.

Learn more about why inclusive child care matters and read our letter in our latest blog: Read the blog: https://inclusionbc.org/a-new-school-year/

Facing barriers to inclusion in child care? We have a new resource for you.

For parents of children with disabilities, finding and keeping child care can come with extra challenges. You may be told there isn’t space, fewer hours are available, or that staff don’t have the training or resources to support your child.

Our new resource, Navigating Barriers to Inclusion in Child Care: How Parents Can Advocate, offers practical ideas to help you understand barriers, have constructive conversations, and work together with child care providers and support teams to find solutions.

Advocacy and collaboration can go hand in hand. Every child deserves the opportunity to participate, learn, play and grow alongside their peers.

Many families and communities in BC have been left in limbo after being displaced by the ongoing wildfires. Large-scale, devastating events like these can be unbearably traumatic, and these fires show no sign of slowing down. Don't wait til your community receives an Evacuation Alert to begin your emergency planning or to pack your go-bag. Be prepared now.

This guide, compiled by PreparedBC and Disability Alliance BC, is tailored for families and households of people with disabilities. The 16-page guide clearly and concisely lays out key information you need to know to help you for disaster situations, including evacuations due to the wildfires.
