Cloverdale Paint - Kitchener

HAPPY WEDNESDAY FRIENDS!

When it comes to staining wood, each species has its own unique characteristics that can greatly affect the final result. Oak and Maple, for example, may absorb the same stain in very different ways, leading to variations in color, even when using the same stain.

Providing a wood sample and informing the person performing the stain match about your wood preparation process are crucial steps. The way wood is sanded, cleaned, or conditioned before staining can alter how the stain is absorbed and the overall color it produces.

Understanding that different woods pull different undertones is key. Some woods might enhance red or yellow hues, while others may pull more of a neutral or even greenish tint.

It’s true that you can’t change the inherent properties of wood, but with the right information and preparation, stain masters can get the closest match possible. It’s all about working with the natural characteristics of the wood to achieve the desired look.

In this photo, we have Oak and Maple.

Isn’t it mind blowing how all of these samples came from the same colour stain and can ?

This is why it the type of wood matters!
