Bridging the gap between school and real life. Practical life skills for confident, capable young adults.

Is your child prepared to handle situations in the moment?

Can they recognize misinformation before they share it?

Handle pressure from friends or people online?

Know what to do when cyberbullying happens?

Spot a scam?

Recognize when an online “friend” may not be who they say they are?

Digital safety isn't just about rules, restrictions or monitoring.

It's about giving kids the skills to recognize what's happening, think critically and know what to do next.

Because eventually, we won't be beside them when they have to make the decision.

Not sure how to start these conversations?

EducateU's age-specific Digital Safety Toolkits give parents practical conversation starters, activities and tools to help kids build safer online habits and make better decisions.

When we talk about screen time, it's easy to focus on how many hours our teens are spending online.

But digital balance is about more than a number.

Try a quick Digital Balance Check with your teen:

How are things going with their sleep?
School or work?
Exercise and movement?
Time with family and friends?
Offline interests?

And perhaps the most important question:

How do you feel after spending time online?

Ask what's working well and what could be better and let them answer before you do.

The goal isn't to take away their devices. It's to help them recognize when their digital habits are supporting their life, and when they may be getting in the way.

Start the conversation.

KNOW. THINK. ACT.

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey!

I’m still looking to hear from more educators so I can get a broad range of perspectives on what schools actually need when it comes to Digital Safety.

If you’re a teacher, administrator, EA, CYW, or work with students in another role, I’d really value your input. And if you know an educator, I’d appreciate you sharing this with them!

It only takes about 5–7 minutes. And it is anonymous unless you choose to share your name and information. Thank you! 💚

If you work in education, I'd really value your input.

I am developing practical Digital Safety and Digital Literacy resources for schools, and before I finalize what EducateU offers, I want to hear from the people working with students every day.

What digital issues are you seeing? What's working in schools now? What's missing? And what resources would educators actually use?

I've created a short 5–7 minute educator survey, and the responses will directly help shape the program.

I'm also looking for a limited number of schools in Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas interested in participating in a FREE Digital Safety pilot program.

Navigating what they see online, making smart decisions with money, and communicating confidently when things get difficult.

These are skills for life.

That's what EducateU is about — practical tools and conversations that help prepare young people for the real world.

We shouldn't wait until they're struggling to start teaching these skills.

KNOW what matters. THINK it through. ACT with confidence.

As kids get older, we can't see every message, every conversation or every decision they make online.

That's why digital safety can't rely on monitoring alone.

Kids need to know they can come to us when something feels wrong even if they made a mistake, broke a rule or are afraid we'll be upset.

The goal isn't to know everything they're doing online.

It's to make sure they know who to turn to when they need help.

Start the conversations early. Keep them going as they grow.

KNOW the risks. THINK ahead. ACT early.

Ages 9–12 are in an important in-between stage.

They're becoming more independent online, exploring more and making more decisions for themselves. But they still need guidance.

This is a great time to strengthen conversations about online boundaries, misinformation, scams, cyberbullying, online strangers and what to do when something doesn't feel right.

The Ages 9–12 Digital Safety Toolkit gives families practical activities and conversation starters to help build those skills before kids are navigating the online world more independently.

The online world has changed and the conversations we have with our kids need to change with it.

Digital safety isn't about frightening children or keeping them offline. It's about helping them recognize risks, think critically, trust their instincts and know what to do when something doesn't feel right.

Start the conversations early. Keep them going as they grow.

KNOW the risks.
THINK ahead.
ACT early.
