Saturday was the annual Merritt endurance ride. Weather was perfect (for the horses!)-  Windy, overcast and cool. Feral
Horses on the road, cows interrupting our vet checks - all part of the fun!
No injuries, no one sick although a few could not complete. We had a bit of a scare mid afternoon when the Boston bar fire smoke reached us, and ash was falling and the sky darkened, but luckily it cleared and we didn’t have to evacuate.
On the way home I stopped at the Coquihalla recreation centre at an exit called Falls Lake (never even noticed it before!) and went for a hike up to the lake and around half of it.
It’s a nice change to my routine work 😊

Today wrapped my yearly 3-day trip to Oliver at Brenda Cruickshank to do some vetting. Lots of horses seen, lovely new people met and even time to go on a couple of trail rides and a very fun night of “paint and sip” with the most amazing sunset in the background.
Some small injuries for Brenda (just below her rib cage) and I (my nose)but we’ll survive!!
Some amazing scenery, I never tire of the landscape. It’s the first year that we didn’t overheat and the mostly overcast and windy conditions were welcomed.

As work life gets really busy on certain days, it’s lovely to have moments that make you keep a deep breath and enjoy the world around you 🌈
