Playing and exploring is how kids learn and it's also how they build up the little muscles in their hands and fingers so they can hold a pencil when they're older. When kids explore small objects or play with little toys, they're not just strengthening their fine motor skills. They're learning how things work, making observations, comparing, and using critical thinking skills. Play is learning and it builds a strong foundation for reading and writing.

Parents, if you need a bit of reassurance today, this is it. Every conversation you have with your kids is building a foundation for learning. Talk about the weather, sports, food, animals, or whatever you see as you're walking or driving down the street. It all counts. You're doing great!
