Since there seem to be a lot of new people around here lately, I figured I should probably introduce us.

I’m Olga, and this is my husband David. We live in Mission, we are raising our family here, and somewhere along the way we apparently decided that having one thing on the go at a time was far too reasonable. I’m usually the one coming up with ideas, starting businesses, planning events and saying “okay, hear me out…” David is usually the one looking at me like he already knows this is going to involve him somehow.. and somehow, it works.

Much of what you see me building lately has both of us behind it in one way or another. Different strengths, very different personalities, same little family trying to build a good life here.

For anyone who has ever wondered what happens after our guests go home… this!
Everything you see here came out of the motorhome and tents after guests' last stay.
Five loads of laundry, and every sheet, blanket, pillowcase and towel gets washed. The motorhome gets cleaned and reset. The tents and sleeping areas get taken apart and refreshed. We also take guests' garbage bags away.

This is the not-so-glamorous side of Solara that nobody sees. When you pay around $200/night plus a one-time cleaning fee, you are not just paying to sleep in an RV. You are paying to arrive somewhere that's already set up, clean, stocked and ready for you to actually enjoy your time instead of spending half your first day setting up camp. Then when you leave… we get this. Apparently today is laundry day at Solara.

I don't think I'll ever forget this weekend.

A few months ago, Solara was just a future project that David and I couldn't stop talking about. We would walk through stores, scroll through Amazon, and keep saying, "Our guests would love this." Little by little, the boxes piled up, the storage filled up, and what started as an idea became something that we can be proud of.

This weekend we welcomed our very first guests. It wasn't at the lakeside location we had originally planned, but we were incredibly grateful that they still had the opportunity to get away, relax, and give us the chance to finally put months of planning into action. One thing we never wanted to compromise on was quality. The BBQ, outdoor chairs, cookware, dishes, mugs, fresh linens, towels, pillow protectors and memory foam mattress toppers were all purchased brand new because we wanted every guest to arrive to a space that was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully prepared.

Looking through these photos, I don't just see an RV and a tent. I see months of dreaming, planning and a whole lot of little decisions.

Thank you to our very first guests for trusting us, and thank you to everyone who's followed this journey.

I just finished emailing every single one of our booked guests. The last few days have been incredible... and exhausting.

We received way more interest than I ever imagined, but we also received a lot of criticism and questions. That's part of putting a brand new idea out into the world.

The one thing I never wanted was for our guests to wonder what was happening because of something they read on Facebook. They trusted us first, so they deserved to hear everything directly from me. Whatever happens next, I'm going to build Solara the right way. ❤️

We haven't slept much this week... and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.
Every day has been spent adding one more little detail, moving things around, testing ideas, and asking, "How can we make this just a little more comfortable for our guests?"

This is the space we have been creating, one thoughtful touch at a time. There are still more improvements coming throughout the season, but we wanted to finally give you a little tour of the campsite.

We hope that when you arrive, you'll feel the care that went into preparing it.
