You probably already know.

That’s the annoying part.

You know which commitment makes your whole body tense when you see it on the calendar.

You know which relationship you keep having the same conversation about.

You know which expectation you’re exhausted from trying to meet.

You know where you keep telling yourself to try a little harder, give it a little longer, figure out a better way.

And maybe you’ve been waiting for something to happen that makes the decision obvious.

Something big enough that you can finally say, 'See? NOW I’m allowed to stop.'

It's ok to simply realize that you don’t want to spend another season of your life tending this.

I’ve been sitting with that question in my own life

There are things I’ve poured tremendous amounts of care, energy and time into that I don’t regret for a second.

They belonged. They mattered.

And I can feel that some of them don’t belong in the same way anymore. (listen to todays podcast EP 99 for more on that).

I used to think clarity would mean knowing exactly what should replace them.

Instead, I’m finding a completely different kind of clarity in being willing to say:
..I don’t know what comes next. I just know I don’t want to keep abandoning what I know now....

That’s the work underneath the breathwork experience I’m facilitating next Sunday (09/27).

Workshop, journalling, then move through a breathwork experience, and integrate what surfaced.

This is usually held inside The Deliberate Practice, but I’m opening a few spots to non-members for $20.

Sunday, September 27 · 1pm EST (Virtual)
$20 drop-in

I hate making coffee in the morning.

Like throwing out the old coffee grinds, filling up the water, getting everything ready. I don't know why, but I just hate doing it first thing in the morning.

So most of the time I do it the night before.

Last night I was getting ready for bed and wondered if Kev had already done it.

And then I noticed that I didn't want to go check.

Because if he hadn't done it, then I would have to.

Which is so fu***ng ridiculous because we're talking about making coffee.

I had the time. It takes me what, two minutes?

But I was legitimately avoiding even CHECKING because I didn't want to have to do it.

And then I'm thinking, okay, well, I can just leave it until the morning.

Except I hate doing it in the morning.

So now I'm creating the exact situation I don't want to be in tomorrow because I don't feel like spending two minutes doing something tonight.

Have you ever wondered…

Is this normal?

Is it normal that I still think about drinking sometimes even though I know my life is better without it?

Is it normal that some social situations still feel weird?

Is it normal to miss parts of my old life AND not want it back?

Is it normal that quitting drinking didn’t magically fix everything?

Is it normal that I’m changing and some of my relationships aren’t changing with me?

Is it normal that I don’t really know who I am without some of the things I used to do?

Am I the only one who feels like this?

This is one of the reasons community is so important when you’re sober, sober-curious, or questioning your relationship with alcohol.

Because sometimes you don’t need another tool.

You need to sit in a room with other women and hear:

“Oh my god. Me too.”

You need somewhere you can ask the question you’ve been quietly wondering about.

Somewhere you can talk about the weird, uncomfortable, amazing, lonely, exciting parts of changing your life with people who actually understand what you’re talking about.

That’s what our Wednesday Community Call is for.

We’re not sitting around talking about alcohol for an hour.

We’re talking about life ... relationships, stress, identity, boundaries, work, emotions, habits, the hard s**t, the good s**t, and what happens when you’re trying to navigate all of it without automatically reaching for a drink.

And it’s completely free.

Every Wednesday at 8PM EST on Zoom.

If you’re a woman who’s sober, sober-curious, or questioning your relationship with alcohol, you’re welcome here.

Facilitated by a certified coach (me) with 6.5 years of continuous sobriety and a very real understanding of what life after drinking actually looks like.

Comment COMMUNITY and I’ll send you the details.

I spent a lot of years confusing how much I could force myself or push myself to handle with how much capacity I actually had.

Turns out, those are two very different things.

You can be high-capacity, resilient and really fu***ng good at pushing through annnnnnd still be overriding your nervous system, your needs and yourself.

I’m learning to ask a different question now:

Not can I handle this?

Do I actually have capacity for this?

A big part of rebuilding my life has been learning the difference.

Also if you know the song lyric I spoke… can you remind me?!?

What the f**k do I do now?

That was essentially the question I was left with once I knew drinking was no longer going to be how I got through the hard stuff.

Because quitting drinking was one thing.

Learning what to do with stress, anger, grief, loneliness, celebration, discomfort… all the things I had used alcohol to soften, avoid or move through…. was another.

That’s where the real work started for me.

Understanding my patterns. My stress responses. Learning how to actually be with what I was feeling instead of immediately needing to change it.

And slowly building new ways of responding.

I think this is the part we don’t talk about enough when we talk about sobriety or really, rebuilding after any major life change.

Doing the hard thing is one thing.

Learning how to live differently afterward is the work.

EP 94 of The Deliberate Exchange is all about this: What Happens After You Do the Hard Thing?

Comment ‘EP 94’ and I’ll send it to you.

Sometimes we don’t realize how much we’re carrying until we finally give ourselves the space to put some of it down.

Stress accumulates.

So do emotions we haven’t had time to feel, things we’ve pushed through, conversations we’ve swallowed, and experiences we thought we’d already “dealt with.”
We can understand all of it.
Talk about it.
Journal about it.
And still carry it in the body.

This is one of the reasons I love this kind of breathwork so much.

It’s an active, intentional practice that gives us an opportunity to get underneath some of the thinking and actually move what we’ve been holding onto.
And I’ve seen what can happen when we give ourselves the time and space to do that.
BREATHE. is two hours to do exactly that.
We’ll start with some workshopping and journalling to get curious about what’s actually present for you.
Then we’ll breathe.

And we’ll give ourselves plenty of time afterward to come back down, integrate, connect and let the experience land.

No rushing out the door.
No trying to figure it all out.
Just space.

And with the Fall Equinox marking the shift into another season, it feels like a pretty beautiful time to ask:
What am I ready to put down?
What am I ready to make room for?

If you’re craving community and connection…

This is your invitation.

Every Wednesday, a group of women gathers online for an honest conversation.

Some have quit drinking.
Some are navigating divorce.
Some are rebuilding after burnout.
Some are caregivers.
Some are navigating grief.
Some are changing careers.
Some are simply trying to become someone they’ve never been before.

Different stories.
The same truth.

You’ve already proven you can do hard things.

You know how to survive.
You know how to push through.
You know how to carry more than most people ever see.

But eventually, strength isn’t what you need more of.

You need people who understand what it’s like to build a life after the hard thing.

A place where you don’t have to explain yourself.
Where you can celebrate wins that other people don’t understand.
Where you can admit when you’re struggling without someone trying to fix you.

That’s why I host these free Wednesday Community Calls.

No pretending.
No pressure.
No perfection.

Just women choosing, week after week, to keep becoming who they want to be—with people who get it.

If you’ve been looking for a sign that you don’t have to do this part alone…

This is it.
