When you dial 911, you expect help to be there—fast.

But what happens behind the scenes to make that possible?

That’s where CanOps comes in.

We work with public safety agencies across Canada to strengthen the systems that keep communities safe—everything from modernizing 911 networks, to developing training for responders, to building the technology that helps first responders arrive faster and better prepared.

You may not see us on the frontlines, but our work helps ensure that when emergencies happen, Canadians can count on a stronger, more reliable safety net.
Keeping Canada safe is everyone’s priority. We’re proud to play our part.

Fire Prevention Family Day Coming to Prince Albert

Families in Prince Albert and surrounding communities are invited to join us for Fire Prevention Family Day on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre.

Hosted by the Canadian Public Safety Operations Organization (CanOps), the afternoon will bring together families, local firefighters and community partners for a fun day focused on fire prevention and life safety.

The Prince Albert Fire Department will be on site with fire trucks, equipment and firefighting gear, giving families an opportunity to meet local firefighters and learn more about the work they do in our community. Children can also enjoy a special visit from Sparky® The Fire Dog, colouring activities, giveaways and other family-friendly activities.

The event also marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10, 2026. This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!”, highlights the importance of safely charging and using electronic devices and understanding the potential fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries.

Come out, explore the equipment, connect with local firefighters and pick up some practical fire-safety tips while enjoying an afternoon with family and friends.
