There are things that could be done to help our mills. Why not consider removing the industrial carbon tax? How about looking at preferential Hydro rates? What about working towards consistency in fibre supply. The mills and communities should be consulted about much more than NDP government transition teams.
Hundreds of hardworking folks on the Sunshine Coast just lost their livelihoods to NDP land-use gridlock and permitting delays. What just happened at Howe Sound Pulp and Paper was avoidable.
15,000 jobs already wiped out in just four years under the NDP. Forestry families are left to pick up the pieces.
The BC Conservatives stand with the workers this government has abandoned.
While it was great to welcome MLA Sharon Hartwell to Prince George, it was sad to show her some of the effects of ten years of destructive NDP policies on resource extraction - especially forestry. Government should be asking companies, workers, and communities “What can we do to keep this mill operating?” Instead they continue to oversee the destruction of the forest industry.
It was a privilege to have the Honourable Kerry-Lynne D Findlay, leader of the Conservative Party of BC, join my colleagues and I in Prince George last week. Check out our discussion about some of the pressing issues facing B.C. and the riding of Prince George - North Cariboo.

It was my pleasure to successfully nominate Archie Chantyman for the B.C. Medal of Good Citizenship, and I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Archie on this well-deserved recognition.
As a respected Elder of the Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation, Archie has dedicated himself to healing and bringing people together across the Cariboo. Through his inspiring “March with Arch” journey and his commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering understanding, he has touched countless lives and strengthened communities throughout our region.
Archie’s humility, perseverance, and leadership serve as an example to us all. My heartfelt congratulations to Archie on receiving this prestigious honour. The people of Quesnel, the Cariboo, and British Columbia are proud to celebrate your achievements and the lasting effect of your work.
Archie Chantyman has been awarded the B.C. Medal of Good Citizenship!
Elder Archie Chantyman, a member of the Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation and second-generation residential school survivor from Quesnel, is recognized for his leadership in advancing healing and reconciliation across the Cariboo region.
Each year, he undertakes a “March with Arch,” a 700-kilometre walk from his home community to St. Joseph’s Mission in Williams Lake and back. This walk is an act of personal and communal healing, symbolizing resilience, remembrance and renewal. The journey honours those affected by the residential school system while affirming the strength of First Nations people in B.C.
Through this powerful initiative and his presentations at community events, Archie fosters dialogue, education and intergenerational understanding among Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences. His work encourages reflection on shared history and supports meaningful reconciliation grounded in respect and action.
Marked by humility and a deep commitment to service, his efforts continue to inspire hope, strengthen community connections and promote healing for present and future generations.

There is a serious algae problem on Tzenzaicut Lake aka Fish Lake, with the whole lake being covered in thick surface algae and a blue sheen.
We are trying to identify the elusive source of the problem. My office is in touch with the Ministry of Water, Lands and Resources to find out about what can be done to resolve this dire situation.
It’s certainly the case that other Cariboo lakes have been facing issues with plant growth and pollution, as well as invasive species. Hopefully we can find solutions that will make improvements.

“This is devastating news for Quesnel,” said Sheldon Clare, MLA for Prince George-North Cariboo. “These are 90 good-paying jobs in a community that depends on forestry. The community would see a huge drop in economic benefit, and local government could see a significant drop in tax revenue. This curtailment will hurt people and businesses.”
Be careful if you are heading south; the fires down there are serious and have caused tremendous damage. Please keep up on BCWildfire for the latest information.
Thanks to Lorne Doerksen and the MLAs for other affected areas for their service.
And a special thanks to the hard working firefighters and emergency services personnel for doing their best in very difficult conditions.
