Hugh the Owl

We got home on Sunday, and I’m still in my travelling clothes. She has a cold and is only laying on the bed. She won’t even help me get undressed! I’ve taken the humble step to come and ask Nancy Drew to help me.

This is Athabasca Falls. A dangerous place if you step off the trail, but this sign does not apply to me!

I’m here in Jasper National Park and the fire that went through here 2 years ago is no joking matter, but new growth is coming. I think I’ll build a big nest here……. Maybe she will let me stay so I can help all my fellow owls build and find new homes ….. not to be, I hear her calling me now!

I’m here at Mt Robson Provincial Park where she plans to eat lunch at a sunny table, but she just went to the gift shop, of course, so I’m going to eat all her food while she’s gone.

Look who is staying overnight? I think she’s opening a home for lost and lonely dogs. Meet Wallen ! I think I’ll stick close to this guy, keep him out of trouble. He’s not even getting up for supper.

I’m home ! But this weirdo has taken over my place on the shelf where I sit so I shoved him over and settled in. Turns out his name is Frank. Maybe we will be friends! Maybe not !

I got out of the cottage unnoticed ….. I’m tired of cold ham and potato salad. I want real meat …. So here I wait and tonight I fly at dusk!

I got here yesterday and within a half hour, while I was quietly reading my magazine on the ottoman, there was an incident …… Hazel fell down the stairs. A full flight of stairs no less and what a racket ! How does a dog fall down stairs?

I’m on my way ……. This is Hazel who I’m sharing the backseat with. She’s as pretty as Hazel Mae from the Blue Jays organization!

I’m leaving in a week to go to a cabin on Hawkins Lake. I’ve been told that the “One with Small Hands” and her sister, “Tiny Hands” will be there too. She says to me, “No hooting at night, Hugh, and no eating mice in front of the girls. It will upset them.” “What?” I say . . . . “I watch them eat, and I’m not upset.” “Oh and remember Hugh,” she continues, “you’re sharing the backseat on the way with the dog.” This trip is looking like a ton of fun already.
