I will never forget September 11, 2001.

I’m Canadian, but that day never felt distant. We watched in disbelief, grieved with our American neighbours, and stood together.

Years later, visiting the 9/11 Memorial & Museum made the loss feel even more personal. The names. The missing-person flyers. The faces. The remains of Ladder 3. The Survivors’ Stairs. The pieces of steel and ordinary street signs pulled from the wreckage.

What stays with me most is that they were not numbers. They were people — families, friends, coworkers, parents, children.

And in the middle of unimaginable loss, there were extraordinary acts of courage and humanity.

25 years later, we remember.

After years of decorating, renovating, changing my mind, changing it back, and learning what actually makes a home feel good… I have a few opinions. 😂

Half white, half wood isn’t a compromise.
Velvet and dogs can absolutely coexist.
And no, everything does not need to match.
