Some shots from Labour Day!
This Labour Day, we marched through the streets of Toronto with the vision we’ve spent months building. It started with the Toronto Workers Summit in May where members created a vision for what a better city actually looks like from the perspective of the people who keep it running.
We then took that vision to the potential decision makers in this upcoming municipal election, asking candidates to be accountable to our vision if they wanted our vote. We held 4 town halls where candidates spoke directly with members and facilitated votes on who to endorse. On Monday, candidates who share that vision walked alongside us rather than simply sending a statement of support.
Local 79 represents 32,000 workers across this city, and every one of those town halls, every endorsement conversation, and every step of that parade route was part of building a labour movement strong enough to shape Toronto’s future rather than just react to it.
