Maple Reserve

Next Saturday we have the privilege of taking part in the Leith Summer Festival at Historic Leith Church. It's always so much fun getting to put together a full-length show for wonderful audiences. If you're in the area, come enjoy live a ca****la music! If you're not in the area, come enjoy a weekend on Georgian Bay and make an evening of live music part of your plan! 💈

Many of you who follow us are barbershoppers and will be eminently aware of the significance of the first week of July each year, especially this year in St. Louis. But for those who aren't, last week brought another element of significance to the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Quartet Contest. For the first time in the organization's history, our international quartet champion is an all-female group!

We have been huge fans of GQ from their days in Sweet Adelines International/SingUnited and since their long-awaited welcoming into the Barbershop Harmony Society. (Note: We were not fans of having to walk on stage immediately after their debut of It's All Coming Back to Me Now and the subsequent ovation last year in Denver, but in all the best ways). Our words will never be able to do this moment justice in comparison to those that have been a greater part of their journey. Go find those words if you haven't seen them already.

Congratulations GQ! We can't stress enough how much we CANNOT WAIT to be back at international [all things permitting] next year in Minneapolis and to see you in all your AIC glory! 💈🥇

More to come from us in the coming weeks and months, but for now, go watch this video of not us!

Ontario District Pep Rally June 16th, 2026

People seem to be all up on this whole 2016 thing…Hard to believe this could have been a whole decade ago! It was a year full of performing, learning new material that has been stuck in our heads since day 1, singing with wonderful people like and , winning our first Nighthawks Trophy, doing cool things like singing barbershop covers of pop songs on with and Roger Ashby! What a ride it’s been. Here’s to the clothes that no longer fit and here’s to decades more music! 🕰️💈🎵 #2016 ****la

So you see, last time we posted (August 19th to be exact) we said that we'd share the 3 other videos from our time at the international convention in Denver at a later date. That later date is going to have to be even later because we've just been so busy with other things (one of which completely dwarfs all others in terms of its importance, I might add)!

The less important, but still exciting, thing first. As of just a few weeks ago, Greg was announced as the new director of the Toronto Northern Lights! He is incredibly excited to be diving into this new barbershop journey and is very honoured to fill this prestigious role in Ontario barbershop.

Speaking of new journeys, however, Jonah and his wife Lauren have introduced a new member of the Maple Reserve family. Madeline was born on November 1st and was immediately serenaded by the baritone part to Dancing Through Life from Wicked, I'm sure. The quartet is so unbelievably happy for our friends as they embark on the journey of parenthood.

As we look to navigate life as a 9-person quartet family, we'll be sure to keep you all up to date with our goings on. And eventually we'll post those videos from Denver! 💈

With love,
Chris + Heather, Greg + Janaya, Reuven + Raquel, Jonah + Lauren + Madeline 💙

7 weeks ago today we took the stage at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet Contest in Denver and were able to debut this arrangement from Ontario District - Barbershop Harmony Society's very own, Steve Armstrong!

We have been working with Steve for as long as we've been a quartet and he has been instrumental (a ca****la pun not intended) in getting us to where we are today. Not only were we able to finally take an arrangement of his to the stage, but he happened to be about 10 feet from us, right there in the centre of the judging pit. Here's to you, Steve!

Videos from Denver are rolling out over the coming weeks so we'll have 3 more to share with you, or you can head over to the Barbershop Harmony Society YouTube page to see all the incredible performances yourself!

Happy Barbershop Quartet Day!! Just a short week ago we were in the Boston area singing to qualify for the international contest in Denver this summer. Long story short - we did it! Short story long - we made a pitstop at the famed Boston Common. We know what you’re thinking, “That’s a place and not just the name of the 1980 SPEBSQSA International Quartet Champions?” We know! Crazy! We, and all of our adoring fans apparently, had a great time singing some classic barrrrrrrbershop 💈🎶🥇

Visiting NED and out of district this weekend! Can't wait to hear some , catch up with our friends in Daily Special Quartet, and meet new friends and old at the ! See you soon!
