Y’all have WAY more willpower than I do. If I had a place for this vintage beauty, he’d be off the market in a heartbeat. A classic Malayer with a rich navy field , pops of salmon, and the perfect patina won’t stick around long, so don’t let him get away.

We have a new batch of gorgeous vintage rugs hitting the shop soon, so I thought it was a good time for a little reminder. You don’t have to be an expert to appreciate and buy vintage rugs!
Is this you? You love vintage rugs, but buying online can be daunting. You don’t feel like you know enough. Aren’t sure what questions to ask. Don’t want to get ripped off.
When I started my journey into the wonderful world of vintage rugs, I felt intimidated, but feeling confident buying your dream rug is easier than it looks. Here are our tips for buying vintage rugs online:
(📌 Save this guide for future reference. )
✨Authentic hand-knotted rugs are always one of a kind. If there are multiple quantities, it’s not made by hand.
✨Imperfection is a good thing. Wear, waviness, irregularities…..all signs of a genuine hand-knotted rug.
✨“Vintage style” is not vintage. Many machine made rug companies will try to market their rugs as “vintage.”
✨Ask to see the back. An authentic hand-knotted rug will have a pattern on the back that more or less matches the front. If the backing is solid, it’s not the real deal.
✨“Washable” is a marketing term used to get you to buy mass-produced knock-off rugs. All rugs are washable, just not in the washing machine.
✨Look for natural fibers……..wool and cotton (or if you’re fancy, silk). Polyester and the like are petroleum-based and don’t stand the test of time.
✨Make sure there are no holes or rips and the bindings and fringes are secure. Most rug damage happens in these two areas. Bindings should be tightly wrapped and fringes should have a lock stitch to prevent fraying at the edges.
✨Know your size range. Tape out your ideal size on your floor with masking tape. Now determine the largest and smallest width and length that will work for your space. Not sure? Just ask!
✨Find a dealer you can trust. Read reviews. Ask questions. You don’t need to be an expert. A good dealer will be happy to help. ❤️ And don’t forget to sign up for our Insider mailing list for early access!

My heart has always been in design, but after 17 years in the apparel industry, I was starting to get burnt out. When I first started collecting vintage rugs, I never thought it would turn into a job, much less, my full time career. But you supported me as my side hustle took shape and helped me grow this little business to what it is today.
Not many people are lucky enough to get to do what they love. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you who help make this dream a reality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🫶

Sneak Peek 👀
Our entryway is finally coming together with the addition of some amazing antique art pieces we’ve been collecting. Somehow this was the trickiest space to design. Can you believe these stairs were carpeted when we moved in?! Who would do that to such a gorgeous staircase? 🤯 Nat and my father-in-law had it stripped out on day one, before we even moved our stuff in. And then it sat like that for two years, lol. Once we started our reno, we finally stripped the paint from the original staircase to match the front door and the millwork around the doors. One day, I hope to do the skirting boards, but that was more than we had money for at the time. Choosing a paint colour for this space was exceptionally difficult. We landed on a gorgeous olive green which I love, but I must admit, I’m having pangs of regret that I didn’t go with a dramatic oxblood. What do you think? Should I work up the courage to stand on a 15ft ladder and repaint it? 😬
Needless to say, the vintage rug really steals the show here anyway. This one-of-a-kind beauty is from our upcoming collection that is launching soon. Be sure to sign up for our Insider mailing list to get first dibs.
