Silence Protects the Ra**st: Why We Must Speak Out Against Child R**e in Cameroon
Recent cases of child r**e in Cameroon have shocked communities and left many citizens asking how such horrific acts continue to occur. Every child deserves safety, protection, and the opportunity to grow without fear. Yet, far too many children suffer in silence because of threats, shame, fear of stigma, or pressure from family members and community leaders.
R**e is not merely a crime; it is a serious violation of human dignity and fundamental human rights. When the victim is a child, the consequences can be devastating, affecting physical health, emotional well-being, education, and future development. The trauma can remain with a victim for years if not properly addressed.
One of the greatest weapons used by perpetrators is silence. Many offenders threaten their victims, warning them not to tell anyone. Others manipulate children into believing that nobody will believe them or that speaking out will bring trouble to their families. This culture of fear allows criminals to continue harming innocent children.
As a society, we must send a clear message: no child should remain silent because of threats. Any child, parent, guardian, teacher, neighbor, or witness who knows about a case of r**e should report it immediately to the appropriate authorities. Speaking out is not an act of disobedience; it is an act of courage and protection. Every report could prevent another child from becoming a victim.
Parents and guardians must create safe environments where children feel comfortable discussing anything that makes them uncomfortable. Schools, religious institutions, community organizations, and government agencies must also strengthen awareness campaigns and child protection measures.
Justice must be swift and firm. Perpetrators should face the full weight of the law regardless of their social status, influence, or relationship to the victim. Protecting offenders only encourages further abuse and places more children at risk.
Cameroon cannot afford to normalize or ignore these crimes. The protection of children is a collective responsibility. If you have been threatened, intimidated, or pressured to remain silent about r**e or sexual abuse, speak to a trusted adult, community leader, child protection organization, or law enforcement authority. Your voice matters.
Silence protects the ra**st. Speaking out protects the child.
Together, let us build a Cameroon where every child is safe, every victim is heard, and every offender is held accountable.

Healthy Mind: A Shield Against Depression
A healthy mind is the foundation of a happy and productive life. Just as we care for our bodies, we must also care for our thoughts, emotions, and mental well-being. When the mind is strong and balanced, it becomes a powerful defense against depression.
Depression is more than temporary sadness. It can drain energy, reduce motivation, and affect daily life. However, building healthy mental habits can reduce its impact. Positive thinking, strong relationships, regular exercise, enough sleep, and a sense of purpose all contribute to emotional stability.
Managing stress through prayer, meditation, journaling, or simply taking quiet time can calm the mind. Speaking openly with trusted friends or professionals also helps lighten emotional burdens.
A healthy mind does not mean a life without challenges — it means having the resilience to overcome them. Feed your mind with hope, protect it from negativity, and nurture it daily. Your mental health matters.
