“Every child carries a song. For those who never came home, we will keep singing until their truths are heard, their spirits are honoured, and their stories lead us toward healing.”

— Laurie Shaw-Greyeyes

My Vision

My vision for GEN7PATH is to use songs as medicine and words as healing—to honour the children who were taken, uplift the voices of Survivors, and help future generations reconnect with identity, culture and belonging.

Reconciliation must be more than remembrance. Through music and storytelling, we can carry truth into people’s hearts, inspire meaningful action and create a path forward where every child is seen, valued and remembered.

Every Child Matters. Every Story Matters. Every Song Can Help Us Heal.

Honoured to be featured on CKUA’s Wellness program in a conversation about songs as medicine, Wahkohtowin—our sacred responsibility to live in relationship—and the story behind GEN7Path’s song “1876.”

We also spoke about the fiddle and its powerful voice throughout the song—carrying memory, sorrow and resilience while connecting the past to the generations still to come.

Joe Hartfeil will shape th interview into a 90-second CKUA feature, with an introduction directing listeners to “1876.”

Our music is more than something we hear. It helps us remember, reconnect and heal. 🧡

Songs are medicine. Words are healing.

“Kotawân is where our sacred souls gather. Around the fire, stories become teachings, silence becomes healing, and the voices of our ancestors remind us who we are. As long as the Kotawân burns, our language, culture and spirit will continue to live.”

We are honoured that GEN7Path featuring Michelle Joly’s “1876 (150 Years We Stand)” was included on the Indigenous Waves Radio playlist last night! 🎶

To have our song shared alongside so many incredible Indigenous artists is truly meaningful. Thank you to Indigenous Waves and CIUT 89.5 FM for helping amplify Indigenous voices, stories and music around the world.

“150 years later, we are still here—and we stand.” 🧡Michelle Joly

#1876

I’m deeply honoured to share that “1876” has been selected by the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund for A DAY TO LISTEN on September 30—the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Our song may be heard on up to 580 radio stations across Canada, carrying the truth of Treaty 6 and calling us all toward meaningful action.

Michelle and I will record a special introduction for the broadcast. Together, we hope “1876” will honour the past, speak to the present and inspire a stronger path toward reconciliation.

This is more than a song. It is a message, a responsibility and a call to listen and remember 🧡

“Forgiveness is the first step to healing. Not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace. Release what you cannot change, reclaim your heart, and move forward. What is holding you back?”

🧡 SEPTEMBER 30 | TRUTH & RECONCILIATION DAY

Know the Truth.
Honour the Treaty.
Carry the Relationship Forward.

Truth and Reconciliation begins with understanding our shared history and listening to the voices of Survivors, Elders, families and communities.

Treaties are not simply part of our past. They are living relationships that carry responsibilities into today and for the generations yet to come.

On September 30, we honour the children who never came home, the Survivors who carried their stories forward, and the generations continuing the journey of healing and reconciliation.

🧡 Honour the Children. Honour the Survivors. Honour the Future.

We are all Treaty People.
